"quadratic function" diophantus , a greek

Let x be Diophantus' age when he died.

His son died 4 years before Diophantus (so Diophantus was then x-4 years old). His son lived half as long as Diophantus so when he (son) died he was x/2.
Diophantus' son was born when Diophantus was (x-4)-x/2 years old. That was 5 years after his marriage so when Diophantus married he was (x-4)-x/2-5 years old. We also know that 1/6 of his life was spent in childhood, 1/12 in youth and 1/7 as bachelor so (x-4)-x/2-5=(1/6+1/12+1/7)x.
Now you solve last equation:
  • x-4-x/2-5=11/28x
  • x/2-11/28x=4+5
  • 3/28x=9
  • x=9*28/3=84 years

Diophantus was 84 years old when he died.

Hi i havent used my radiator for 2 years is it ok to use now in my 8 month olds bedroom? also bit of a smell coming from it cant remember if i had that before or not is this normal for these radiator?

I would think it would be fine in your childs bedroom. First i would give it a good cleaning, brush it off, vacumn of blow out with compressed air. Also I would use your heater for a day or two in open area such as living room before I would trust it. I would guess that the smell you are getting is dust and hair, lint etc. burning off. But of course we don't want to take chances with our children. My son and daughter in-law used a holmes unit in my grandsons bedroom for the last four years and have had no problems. Hope this helps. Thanks

My office has the Prostar 816 phone and the manual is not detailed at all.. I needed to know how to change the time (due to time change) Our manual says #55 etc etc... Help me please!

To change the time on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down, enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
1) enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming2.gif)
2) enter in #55 the screen should say YYMMDDWHHMM
3) enter in the year, month, day, day of the week, hours and minutes(the day of the week values are 1= mon. 2= tues. etc.)
press # when finished.

Uniden 1725 no dial tone

I had the same problem as long as they are plugged in correctly and you put the #2 handset into the #1 cradle to register it to your base then try hanging the phone up several times. These are expandable phones so that I believe you can keep adding other handsets. So sometimes they think you have a few more handsets than you really have so when you hang up it may not know what handset you are hanging up #1 #2 or #3 #4 etc. So I had to keep hanging them up until it finally hung up. Then I had to re install them so it knew I only had 2 hand sets. So then you start from the beginning, like when you took it from the packaging. I hate these phones. I ended up replacing them with different ones. Plus I always keep a rotery phone laying around put away because during a power outage you still can plug in an old dial phone and it will work! Nothing like old technology.

Follow up question on black level

i have 6year old son 4 year old son and 3 year old daughter you might play around with black level and gamma switching in between. I would go ahead and get it calibrated, well they will lock in the day and night feature on the expert1 and 2 that way it cant be changed i would have them set it to ur hdmi output to ur bluray player thats just me and then put the same specs out for ur hd tv settings on ur own just copy them and well sd use intelligent sensor thats what i do the i sensor does pretty well for the sd signals. no the black level is not grand but really black levels are overrated unless u work for cnet and yes they biased i dont care what the nay sayers say they gave the lg60 not such a good review, their plasma biased. plasmas are nice especially pioneer, but i like the punch of lcds, and i hate having to becareful about this and that with plasmas.

I have a Panasonic KX-TG6051CM

I had the same problem, and it seems that the battery charging circuit in the handset had locked up, constantly charging the battery until it overheated. I was able to reset the circuit in my handset by completely draining the battery. Here is the procedure:

1. Remove the handset from the charging cradle, and leave it on for a few days until the battery runs out, and the handset finally turns off. At his point, the battery will be very low, BUT NOT COMPLETELY DRAINED.

2. Next, you must manually drain the charge remaining in the battery by shorting out the two contacts on it. Shorting won't damage the battery, since it is holding very little charge at this point. An easy way to physically do this is to remove the battery, and place a piece of thin wire across the the two contacts of the HANDSET. I am referring to the contacts inside the handset that connect to the battery, NOT the contacts on the bottom outside that connect the handset to the charging cradle. Next, put the battery back in, sandwiching the wire between the battery's contacts and those inside the handset. This will hold the wire in place. DO NOT PUT THE HANDSET BACK INTO THE CHARGER, WITH THE BATTERY SHORTED OUT.

3. Wait about 30 minutes for the battery to completely die. Remove the jumper wire, and but the handset back into the charger.

4. If the battery was fully discharged , you will get a message on the handset telling you that you should let it will charge for 7 hours. If you do not get this message, then either the battery was not fully discharged, or your problem is different from mine. Try the procedure again in Step 3 for another 30 minutes to discharge the battery some more.

5. If you get the "Wait for 7 hours to charge" message on the handset, then leave it in the charging cradle for the 7 hours requested. After that, it should work fine.

Let me know how you make out.

Strange ogject in PS3 game console

Hi,
removing the strange object would be the first thing.
secondly, would be to put it up out of your sons reach.
Finally would be to find out your warranty, you,ll be needing it.
