take seat off then take cover off with 4 screws then make a diagram of existing cables then take cables off remove old batterys, then go back with same style batterys making sure they are gel batterys and exact match and reverse the steps above, good luck
Richard The seat is probably rusted on the seat post It will take alot of turning and pulling upward at the same time to get it off. Try spraying a penetrant on the post just below the seat to see if that will help with the turning and pulling just keep at it. It can be a tedious task and frustrating Hope this helps
You can remove the seats following the instructions below from autozone.com. Rear Seats SEAT CUSHION
Fig. Typical W-Body rear seat cushion removal
Locate and remove the small bolts at the front lower edge of the seat cushion.
Pull the tabs on the rear cushion retainers.
Remove the seat cushion by lifting up and pulling out of the retainer.
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Make sure the retainer tabs are snapped into place. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
SEAT BACK
Fig. Typical W-Body rear seat back removal
Remove the seat cushion as described above.
Remove the anchor nuts securing the rear seat retainer at the bottom of the seat back.
Grasp the bottom of the seat back and swing upward to disengage the offsets on the upper frame bar from the hangers.
Lift the seat back upwards to remove from the vehicle.
Installation is the reverse of the removal process. Make sure the hooks on the seat back are properly installed to the hangers. Tighten the anchor nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
Bob First unplug both connectors from the rear of the chair. Then on the right hand side under the seat push the small handle forward until it stops, then rotate the seat and pull up at the same time the seat should lift off the seat post. Carefully place the seat on the floor next to the base. Remove the shroud pulling upward to release the velcor fastners and voila!! the batteries. Now if the seat is hard to pull up try twisting it back and forth to help get it loose from the seat post. You might need some help in lifting because this seat and attached parts are heavy. After replacing the batteries grease the post to help getting it off easier next time. Hope this helps you
Bubba, Under the front of the seat is a latch that you must release there is a rubber block that must be rotated forward to be able to release the two little knobs that it is wedged between Rotate the knobs inward and lift the front of the seat. the seat will flip toward the rear of the chair and you now have access to the batteries. to remove the seat disconnect the joystick cable from the base and slide the seat forward after you have it tilte back and lift it off the base. Hope this helps you
Unplug the joystick cable under the seat remove the seat if on a post lift handle on right side under seat and lift seat off post if not look for release levers behind front seat post and seat will rotate backwards to give you access to the batteriesdisconnect battery cables and install as on old batteries to new ones and reinstall Hope this helps
It has a lock lever on the side. Push the lever and turn the seat slightly while lifting up with both hands. Sometimes, they need a pretty hard **** to get it to release, but it will come right off.
There's a lever on the side of the chair that you disengage to unlock it. First, make sure the chair is in gear and power is off, then unplug the Joystick from the base; just follow the cable coming out of the joystick to the rear of the chair where it plugs in and rock it back and forth to unplug.
Unlock the seat with the lever, and turn the seat slightly to the left or right and lift up. Usually, it will come right off. If it's been a while since it's been removed, or if a heavier person has been bouncing atop it, it may need more coaxing. Try squirting some WD-40 at the base of the seat where the pole connects and let it run down into the shaft of the pole. Wiggle seat back and forth a bit and try lifting at the same time.
Now you can access the batteries by lifting up on the corners of the cover called the shroud. These are held on by Velcro strips so just pull up and they will give way. You will see the two batteries inside. Replace them with sealed, gel-acid deep-cycle batteried, about 32-34 amp-hour rating. Fully charge for two or three hours before using. On first uses, let the batteries discharge almost to the red zone before charging overnight. After a week, they will be well broken in. Good luck.
Sometimes it just takes two really strong people to remove these seats. Especially if it is that old. I`m not saying damage the chair, but i`ve had some that were almost impossible to remove.
