Unplug it. Lift the shredder unit off the catch-bucket. Remove any paper caught in the blades. You may need needle-nose pliers to pull jammed paper out from between the cutters.
Its probably jammed with shredded paper to the point where the paper is stopping you from removing the basket. You will just have to try to open it enough and "fish out" some of the paper so that the level goes down and the basket can be removed.
In extreme cases if you let the basket overfill then the "shredded" paper gets caught back up in the cutting blades and you can jam the machine and fry the pcb inside.
Add some paper shredder oil. A shredder needs oil to function properly, oil should be applied every month or more depending on how often you shred. Learn more here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Paper-Shredder-Oil
Royal. Haven't heard of that brand. Could get in contact with tech service, but it's probably easier to grab a new paper shredder.
Paper shredders can be pretty cheap though, great guide to cheap paper shredders here: http://hubpages.com/hub/Best-Paper-Shredders
Teeth underneath lid are jammed; sometimes (especially after a long session) although the papers go through, debris builds up and can get caught in the teeth; to clear unplug and with tweezers or a tina flathead screwdriver, pull out shreds of paper still caught
Motor is overheated; once cool, try it again (move switch to reverse to see if motor is still working). If motor is working, see Step 1 for a jam; some jams can be cleared by running it in reverse. Royal doesn't recommend "long" shredding sessions. My unit recommends sessions of 20 pages or less. If you try to overwork the shredder, it will overheat and in some cases, fry the motor.
I hope this helps answer your problem. Best of luck! Greg
Sounds like shreddder gears are not staying aligned or somethhing is caught in the cutters.
The shredder has a sensor to detect when somethine is insert. Hol the sensor swith down and check for paper clips or staples in the roller/shredding teath. Good Luck and use a match book on the switch to wedge it..
Did you ever put shredder oil onto the cutting blades?????
The blades can clog with paper dust and then it can't shred as many papges as it should or even jam completely...you should occasionally shred a sheet of paper with shredder oil poured onto the sheet.
First things First...UNPLUG THE UNIT. It sounds like it has been fed too many pages at one time. You may also want to dump any shredded paper so there is plenty of room for the shredder blades to pull in the paper. If the paper catcher is too full the blades can grab shreds from the bottom and stop the blades movement. Just be careful. Shredders can be dangerous.
Works in reverse, but not in forward
