And here is the solution... Eureka - we have found a cure. Internal memory of 16MB is shot. Buy a memory stick, insert and voila.... The camera is back too life. And apologies to Samsung....This is really an extrodinary little camera.

I need to get an operator's manuel.

At the website www.samsungcamera.com site you can download the manual and the driver for the Samsung Digimax 401 and the Digimax 4010 which are the same camera.

To get there go to the site and click on SUPPORT then at the bottom of page select page number 9 or in SEARCH type in 401 which will take you to the Digimax 401. DON'T FORGET THE DIGIMAX MODELS 401 AND 4010 ARE THE SAME. I proved it since I compared my 4010 manual to the PDF for 401 and page per page identical. You will have to select a language for the manual and assume also for the camera driver. I found that the Samsung site was not user friendly when I first used it looking for the 4010 model which is not listed but the 401 is there.

Hope this helps.

Digimax 401 keeps saying batteries low

the camera tends to take up a lot of battery so what the best solution is to buy some rechargeable batteries those work great. i have some of those. and they tend to last a very long time!

Samsung Digimax 401 camera

Hi scraftcrazy,

Since you didn't use it for a long time, you are sure you didn't leave any batteries inside the camera for that long. If you did the batteries will most likely have leaked out inside the camera, and caused internal damage. One tell tale sign is that when you took out the old batteries it would be oily or the battery is bloateds. In light of this, I suggest that you clean the battery compartment out, most especially the metal connectors, since that can also be cause of not getting a power and the camera not working at all.

Did you also use HIGH CAPACITY ALKALINE BATTERIES (Energizer e2 or something similar to that) right? Try a different batteries. Since digital camera's require these types of batteries to even run. If you put regular batteries in there, it won't turn on the camera at all even if the batteries are new. If the camera also has a reset switch/button you can also try to do that. Most camera's have this kind of switch. So you may have to check the manual of your camera on this one. If you don't have one you can download it here: http://www.samsungcamera.com/customer/download/cus_down_main.asp?key=401

The only other thing I can think off is did the camera came with an AC adapter? If it does, try using that instead and see of the camera can turn on using it's AC adapter. If it does, it's possible there is damage in the battery compartment connectors.

Hope this helps!

Peace! :)

Camera connection turns pc screen blue

A typical issue if the host PC's motherboard drivers were never installed. This and more at http://www.usbman.com Sadly, you didn't tell the make/model/chipset of the host PC so I can't comment further.
