I have bought two different Kodak cameras a 1530 and a c183 both are easy shares I get a msg that the scandiscs need formatting and cannot take photos because they act like they are but never finish and there is no error. I put the same memory card into another camera and no problem.
SOURCE: new memory card will not format
You are probably using a 4 gigabyte memory card and your camera will only support a 2 gigabyte card. Get the right card and it will format properly.

SOURCE: Kodak c310 camera won't format new SD 2GB card old card same size
Older C310s won't take that large a card. Try to exchange it for a 1 GB or smaller. I had the same problem - a PNY 1 GB works fine
SOURCE: camera will not format 4 gig card
I am having the same problem. I phoned a camera store and they said the camera is too to accept a 4GB card may only accept to a 2 Hope this helps
SOURCE: I have a kodak digital easy share cd33 camera,
1. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "reset"....follow the on-screen instructions. 2. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions to erase the internal memory. 3. Insert card, go into the menu and do the "format" thing again. Be sure to download any pics from the card first.

all i did was downloaded format factory "freeware" installed it and that's all. It installed the necessary co-decs and you can also change the format to .WMV a fraction of the original AVI size.
