Ink replaced, but sows nothing

I have a HP C3180 All-in One printer, I have just replaced the black ink. It is working fine except for when the screen comes up to show the ink levels the black ink shows nothing and has a question mark beside it. Does anyone know why? Like I say the ink and printer work fine. Thanks

The ink cartridges have a ink memory chip inside. it operates on the number of pages printed not the actual amount of ink inside the cartridge. if you go to some sites that refill cartridges, they'll tell you how to reset the "ink left" memory. the ink is in a sponge inside the cartridge. it flows by gravity to the printhead. the sponge is an open celled poly sponge. there are tiny air flow passages just under the tape on top of the cartridge. I have an all-in-one 5610 and when I get a low ink indication I just keep printing. when the copy gets blotchy I just replace the cartridge. If my color is off, I can usually refill the color and keep printing. I can refill the cartridge twice before the bubble jet printhead needs a new cartridge.

A yellow exclamation mark in any application means the attatched item to it is usually in error state, but you say the printer works fine. Most people would tell you to not touch what is working!!! But leaving anything showing error risks further confusion and problems. I think that you problem is probably very simple. Do you know hao to reset your ink levels. Read your manual that came with disk or go to the onscreen help. You may find this will remove the issue. If it does not, then you may have a corrupted driver etc, and may need to uninstall the printer, and reinstall it again. Good luck.

Estimated ink levels are incorrect

The simple solution is to buy the HP cartridges. Often times,.. MOST times, aftermarket ink cartridges and refill kits are an inferior product. The difference is not always noticeable right away, but almost always rears it's head in the end. This is usually due to the ink being of a different viscosity than the original ink. Which leads to sloppy prints, sensor errors, leaky or dead jets.
Personally I recommend everyone buy Laser printers. With prices where they are these days, there is no reason for anyone to buy an inkjet printer. Lasers will cost more up front, but are much cheaper per page and generally longer lasting.

HP C3180 problem with black ink cartridge

This is news to me. I would contact HP on that because if it is the case, they can get you the correct ink. Those numbers on their are usually the same accross the board. Being that I sell HP supplies, I wasn't aware of this.

Problems with the hp c3180 all-in-one printer

Did you clean the contacts inside the printer as well as the ink might be built up where cartridge contacts touch the printer contacts in the housing. You have to be quite careful here as there is a small metal spike which grips the printer and you do not want to push this into the contacts in the housing. Just get some damp tissue and rub it over these contacts to clean up any residual ink( turn off the printer first)
