Refrig cooling Unit loosing cooling in freezer and most likely main compartment too. No iceing up, coils were dirty, cleaned them. It does cool correctly for a while then stops blowing cold air before everything is frozen. Compressor seems to be ok. I think is may be a temp sensor. Old unit, maybe 15 years old, used in the garage for extra storage. Unless it's a cheap part I don't see the use in repairing it. Your thoughts?

I have thebottom freezer GE monogram ZICS360NRLH . It is not cooling top or bottom completely. There is a plastic smell and the condensor motor is pretty hot.

Appliane repair person inspected it for $100 and cleaned thecondesor. No improvement.

I noticed that the freezer has froated coils at the bottom even though the temp is 38 degrees.

GE Adora- less than 1 year old. The freezer compartment is only making 2 trays of ice a day. Things are freezing, but not a hard freeze. I need to see if we still have a warranty on this????

Suggest turn off, defrost overnight with the doors open restart following day should work within 24hrs, if not possible refrigerant gas leaked out and probably not worth re-gassing at that age of unit. Regards Advisor

Kenmore refrig/freezer. freezer side is cold,

Check your condenser coil (should be below the refrig.). If dirty, you can clean it with a condenser brush from Home Depot or Lowe's. Turn the appliance off while cleaning. Be careful not to damage the refrigerant tubing (copper). If this doesn't solve the problem, then there may be an issue with the defrost thermostat, defrost heater(s) or the main temperature control assembly.

Contact an appliance service company.

Freezer compartment has frost buildup

This can be caused by the drain hole below freezer coil being blocked by ice. You MUST remove all ice in drain under freezer coil. Use turkey baster to squirt hot water into hole and use hairdryer to defrost. Possible defrost thermostat is defective. Unit never goes into defrost, ice forms on coil and in floor of freezer. After defrosting may work OK for a week or two but gradually gets warmer because ice is blocking ports where cool air gets to refrig. May also have water in refrig box. Can also be caused by defective defrost timer.

Refrig not cooling

Either the fan that blows cold air from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment is burned out or the door/flap that seperates the compartments is stuck or the linkage connecting it to the fresh food temperature dial is stuck or broken.

The evaporator coils are in the freezer compartment and air is blown from the freezer compartment to cool the fresh food compartment. For some reason, air is not moving to fresh food compartment.

If the fan is running, it could be something as simple as Ice blocking to door between the freezer and fresh food compartment. I know modern refrigerators are self-defrosting, but that's only the evaporator coils, which are defrosted by a timer and a heater.

Ice can form on passageways inside the refrigerator, like the exit of the ice maker and in this case, on the door and 'tunnel' between the freezer and fresh food compartment. It's free, and doesn't take a lot of time, so try completely defrosting the unit before doing anything else.

BE SURE to keep the doors open, as odors can form as particles of food are allowed to defrost that may have been frozen in an ice pack for months or even years. Clean the interior of the refrigerator while you have everything out and reset the controls to normal settings.

If this doesn't help, there may be a mechanical problem with the air transfer control flap/door that will need to be fixed.

Hope this helps.

Refrig/Freezer not cooling

"compressor not functioning". You Probably need a New Compressor. I have a Family Member whos Refrig/Freezer Compressor had to be replaced under Warranty when it was only 2 years Old.
