I was drying rugs and one of the rugs got caught and the drum stopped turning. The power comes on but the dryer drum will not turn.

Is ther anything caught between the drum and the back of the dryer. run you finger around the back edge of the drum inside do you feel anything caught

is the unit level, open the dryer try moving the drum around, see if the drum loose, there mite something in the machine that got caught on the drum some how and when it goes around it bangs,
you mite try spinning the dryer without turning it on and listen to the drum and see if you can hear any thing hitting the drum or what is make those load sounds. if you cannot turn the drum manually you mite bribe a guy or friend to check it out for a beer or glass of wine, and if they down drink bake some cookies.

belt have your wife hang up the rugs next time,anything with a little rubber should not be put in a dryer

one of the dry drum baffle screw might be lose are there might be something caught inbetween the dry drum front seal are rear

check to make sure that nothing is stuck in the blower wheel if nothing is caught then you need a new motor

Have you husband do a visual inspection of the drum and literally feel it to see if anything is caught or stuck on the drum. The motor also may have something caught in it as well. This would be the motor that turns the drum.

some dryers have a switch thats attached to the tension pulley for the belt. if the belt breaks the dryer wont start. if the rug got stuck it probably broke the belt
