Might not find any anymore, IBM has discontinued and no longer supports the IBM 6400 series printers and or any printers at all. If you need some support or printer parts please contact me. Rory 708--597-4222
usually u get those on mod 14's and up and it could be a few things (i would try in this order from lowest to highest priced) coil temp needs to be set, hammer bank cables, shuttle and or cmx bd need to be replaced. Rory 708-597-4222
IF trouble in first row - you ribbon is tracking wrong - replace
You may have junk in the ribbon mask also. No parts needed for that. You need to rotate the hammerbank. Remove ribbon and black cover, the whole shuttle will tipback toward you when you unscrew the allen wrench - watch out for the paper tractors they will hang on the ribbon mask. The ribbon mask is held on by magnetic field - just pop off carefully. clean holes with toothbrush and water - dry. (if the trouble is a bad actuator - 4 allen screws to remove a group of hammers - if using short paper - you can use a group from the end of the printer). reverse to fix
Hold cancel+stop while powering on the printer to enter the maint menu. You can wipe the firmware from there. You need to have a copy of the microcode firmware to reload. If you are uncertain about these instructions, you absolutely should not attempt it.
