Screen Resolution

Click the "Start" menu. Click "Settings" and "Control Panel."

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP. In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click on the resolution bar and slide it to the right to lower the screen's resolution and to the left to raise the screen's resolution.

The optimum screen resolution usually depends on the size of the laptop screen.

The recommended resolution for a 15-inch screen is 1024 x 768, 17- to 19-inch screen is 1280 x 1024, and 20-inch screens is 1600 x 1200.

However, you can adjust the resolution to your personal preference.

Click ""Apply to see how the resolution looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click "OK" to save the resolution settings.

Choose "Display" and "Settings" in Windows 98, ME or XP.

In Windows Vista, click "Appearance" and "Adjust Screen Resolution."

Click "Colors." Choose 32-bit for a high color-pixel ratio that will make the colors brighter and bring out image details.

Choose 24-bit for a medium color-pixel ratio if the screen is too bright or if images are somewhat distorted.

Some older laptops have a 16-bit color setting, but this setting is no longer recommended as it will distort images and text.

Always Click "Apply" to see how the color setting looks on the laptop's monitor.

Click "OK" to save the color settings

hope this helps

I can't change screen resolution on Lenovo L171 Monitor. It is set on 640 by 480 pixels and 16-bit color quality.I entered the properties options in Control panel>Appearence and Themes>Display and...

The problem is not your monitor, it is your computer. It sounds like the computer is operating off a standard vga driver that comes with windows. You need to locate and install the specific driver for your onboard chipset or add-on video card. I would be more specific but you haven't posted any info on your computer.

Pixels only goes to 640X480

When you cannot increase the screen resolution nor a higher color bit, this usually means the video driver has defaulted to standard VGA driver and 8 or 16 bit color.
Install or re-install the latest video driver for your model video card.
When the correct video driver is installed you will be able to change the screen resolution and 32 color bit.

Then click on 'Advanced' Button. In Monitor Tab, Set the Screen Refresh rate to 60 Hertz. Click Apply/Ok in both the settings windows. This will Solve your Problem. Else, Try setting Color Quality to 'Highest (32 bit)'.

Viewsonic monitor

Pixel Ratio is just a parameter Measured to Produce Good Quality Display with Fine details so Do not Mix up with Resolution and Pixel ratio.

Use the Resolution that best sutes the Application you use(which may change with time to time based on applications you use)
Keep a standard Resolution 1024 x768,or which ever suits your Vision.
NViiDiA is a Grafix card and Monitor features are 2 differnt thigs so.
Dont be concerned about the Parameters and get mixed up.
just find the best possible Resolution and enjoy your Monitor with best Quality, :)

Screen resolution: 1024 x 768 pixels or more,
Color quality: Medium (16 bit) or more
