Canon sx201s got wet now it wont turn on and the lens wont close

I have the same problem. How do you restart the camera. I have pulled the battery and SD card, but can't get to a menu screen to restart to camera.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

take both your fingers lightly push both sides of the lens till its completely in and the lens closes then turn back on it should work I just did this fixed one that was dropped in about 5secs

It says on my screen LENS ERROR RESTART CAMERA but it will not.
Hi! just a tip, please dont turn on the camera, let it dry for some time. Turning on the camera while it is still wet may cause short circuit. Hope this helps

Hi,
Remove the batteries and insert new batteries . Sometimes this may work but in your case the lens is stuck inside, or it will have been damaged . Nothing can be done other than taking to service center to get it repaired .

E 18 error what is this
Most probably this is due to dust accumulated on the lens barrel, which prevents the lens from closing properly. Try cleaning the lens barrel. Check for any dust particles on the lens barrel (the part that retracts) and try again. If you can't get it out yourself, take it to an authosized service center.

Lens Error!
Same problem. The lens is stuck in the zoom position. When the camera is turned on, the lens moves a just afraction like it want to fully open or close, then the camera beeps and prompts with the "Lens Error" Restart Camera. Solutions?
