I just replaced my motherboard with a gigabyte ga-8i915p duo motherboard. my problem is i can't get the ide 2 and ide 3 raid controlled connectors to work properly . i plug in a hdd and boot .but cmos doesn't see the hdd but raid finds it as a non raid device. of course it won't boot . if i connect the hdd to ide 1 no problem it starts windows. i'm currently running both the hdd and the dvd rw as master and slave on ide 1 with no problem ,BUT, i want to connect two cd dvd players and one hard drive. manual says cd roms connect to ide 1 and hdd;s are connected to ide 2 and ide 3. i can't get either ide 2 or 3 to work with cmos or windows. i've tried disabling the raid controller in cmos , no luck.i'm not familiar with raid so i'm hoping it's something simple i'm not doing.all help appreciated.
RAID stands for Redundant Array of Inexpensive Disks.
The RAID system uses multiple number of hard disks to give a fast and fault tolerant storage using several disk controllers.
There are various levels of RAID, for info on RAIDs check out
