I was unable to find the model WD16500 instruction manual anywhere online. In fact I did even find a link to that products owners manual, but when I clicked through the page no longer exists on Ridgid's site. I was able to find the parts diagram for the WD16500, and the instruction manual for the WD16600 which is also a 16 Gallon Detach Wet/Dry Vac, also with a detachable blower, and the model that even replaced the WD16500.
I also left you the number to Ridgid if you'd like to contact them, they may be able to mail you a paper copy of the instruction booklet.

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. The best way is with an air compressor it will be dusty (like a storm) but its the only way to get into the filter. If you dont have access to an air compressor all you can do is kind of open up the grooves and use a little brush to manually brush out the dirt. It will take a while to do it properly but they run terrible if the filter is blocked. Also if you are in australia you can shoot me an email and i get you a replacement filter. Hope this helps regards Alec. Happy Vacuuming :)
If you are going to use the wet vac to remove water, be sure to remove the bag inside the canister first. Also, some wet vacs have an internal float that has to be installed, but that may not be the case with yours.

I have that cleaner also (bought used for $10) and do not have a manual. I found a manual for F5914-900 at the Hoover site that seems to be similar. Get it at http://www.hoover.com/pdfs/manuals/F5914900.pdf
