Help! I bought a telescope today at a garage sale and I am trying to find out some details about it and possible parts that I didn't get. This is the info printed on the telescope:
BUSHNELL
D=50mm
F=600mm
Model #18-1750
CHINA AL
Any info would be appreciated.
This is a small telescope.You will get limited views with this scope.However you will be able to see the craters on the moon and the rings of saturn.Although they will not have any detail.You will be able to use it as a terestrial scope.For that it is ideal.You will need an erecting lens to turn the view right side up.You need atleast 1 eyepiece,finderscope,erecting lens(for terestrial views)and maybe a barlow lens.Keep in mind it is not magnification you are looking for it is the ability to gather light and a 50mm is not going to gather much.the bigger the objective lens the more light it will gather.Think of animals that come out at night,their eyes are bigger than those that are out in day light.Because the bigger the lens the more light it gathers,so magnification only plays a part if you can see the target with your light gathering ability.Because just like 1000x0 is 0 the same gos for telescopes.1000xblack is black..

All of their manuals are located further down the above web site. I doubt that you have parts missing-- but it is possible.
I suspect that you have the tube mounted BACKWARDS, with the focuser on the ground end of the tube! If so turn it around, the focuser is on the UP end of the telescope. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the focuser.
Practice focusing on a distant object during the day time. The image will be upside down. This is normal for all astronomical telescopes.
You cannot! That is one of the worst telescopes you can possibly have and use. It is being sold by Toys R Us. We receive more complaints on that brand than any other.
Your only source for parts will be a local well stocked hardware store. The scope you bought will do nothing but frustrate you.
Next time buy one of these: http://www.telescope.com/control/dobsonians/classic-dobsonian-telescopes
Read these two web pages: http://www.texasastro.org/telescope.php
You may be able to call Galileo telescopes and order the parts.

If not and if the eyepiece is a 1.25 inch (measure the hole in the focuser), then you can buy eyepieces and weights from several different retailers on-line:

The screw you can find at a well stocked hardware store.
Locate a local astronomy club and attend their star parties. They will help you with the telescope. NO! Nexstar hand controller do not work on TASCO telescopes. You bought a VERY VERY small 60mm telescope. You would have been better off buying 10x50mm binoculars as your first "telescope".
