When i turn my toshiba 46" tv on theres one thin black line running verticaly down the screen about 4 inches from the left hand side, but after a couple of minutes the line disapears! the tv is an ex display model but is still under warranty. please can anyone help?
The only logical solution for the problems people are having for the toshiba regza's tv's is to get into a class action law suite..., they contiue to sell tv's with defective parts and refuse to help the customer that spent large cash to find out they last if your lucky 2.5 years, they are junk and anyone with one will soon find out./.......
Luckily, I purchased an extended warranty. The problem had progressed to the point that there was a constant thin red line on the right side. The repair guy came out and took our TV to their shop for repair. They called a couple days later and said the LCD panel was bad and not cost effective to repair. Now, I'm waiting for them to "research" the market for TVs with similar features and will cut me a check so I can buy a new one. For reference, the TV was a 1.5 year old Toshiba Regza 46" 1080P LCD. It had the 10 bit panel and the best picture I have ever seen on an LCD TV. Since this is looking like a common problem, I will not get another Toshiba.
I bought this TV 13 months ago. Unfortunately for me, 20-days past warranty. Last night I noticed a dark vertical line about 4-inches from the right side. It goes away after the tv (46rv525u) is on for 20-30 minutes.
I called the store (Vandries) who put me in touch with the local Toshiba service repair shop. They told me to call the 1-800-631-3811 number and argue with them because they may fix the TV even though it's 20-days out of warranty.
So, I called them and gave me the run around. I told the tech about all the problems reported online about this TV. I read this message forum here with 7 complaints of the same exact problems as I'm having, he laughed and said "that's pretty good if it's only 7", WTF?? How unprofessional is that?
Then I demanded to talk to a supervisor who said I misunderstood the tech guy. Here I am left holding the bag on a $1,200 TV that is only 13 months old and has LCD screen issues that they won't cover because I'm 20-days past warranty. And that comment just proves how unprofessional they are.
Stay away from Toshiba. Toshiba LCDs are junk, customer service is awful and they don't care about you. Google search "vertical line 46rv525u" and you'll learn this is a common problem with Toshiba.
My 2 1/2 year oldToshiba 46 inch Regza has two vertical lines that almost fade away (but not completely they are both about 4 inches from opposing sides after an hour one is blue and one is red). Fixed problem with a 58 inch Samsung Plasma, much better picture and I bought the darn extended warranty, hopefully I won't need it.
Hello,
I have a "Home-fix" for you, you should watch this you tube video on how to repair a symptom such as yours even though it is a sanyo tv the fix is pretty much the same for your television and may save you oodles of money!

I have the same, exact problem. Our set is about 1 yr. old
My problem exactly! : a thin black line going down all the way down on the left hand side about 3in. in. It turns green, then red, then disappears. I'v got it still under warranty, so I emailed tech support about the issue. Will update when I get more information
My problem started as a dark vertical line about 3 inches from the left side. It has gotten worse. Now, there is also a vertical line 3 inches from the right side. The lines will slowly change color and eventually fade away in 20 to 30 minutes. Usually the left line is blue or green and the right one is red. If you look closely, the vertical line may actually be two smaller lines right next to each other. The lines will get thinner and thinner and then go away.
I have exactly the same problem on my 46" it started just on the left and now has started on the right both clear after 20 mins or so. Mine is now out of warranty and the store I bourght from has ceased trading, anyone any idea if it can be fixed or do I need to go to Toshiba for a replacement as is is not fit for its purpose!
I have the same exact problem with my 52 inch LCD Samsung. I am disgusted with this problem. TV is 14 months old with 1 year warranty. Hugh $ investment......please HELP!
