I have a Canon Pixma MX700. It works good except the scanner won't scan. (It copies and you would think they are related) and prints just fine. What's missing?
Did you try looking for the "Use Scanner Driver" check box? In my older version, MP470, I was freaking out and trying everything. This model Canon MX700 cannot scan slides. A flat bed scanner that can scan slides and negatives has a light scource that shines through the slide and negative fand is detected by the scanner sensor. I suggest you purchase a slide scanner, it will be cheaper that getting a new flat bed scanner with slide capability.
Hi there :Did you already tried another power cable ?also tried another power source ? Try also another device on the same power source.I hope this information will help you.
Sorry, but no. As far as I know that's how all of these all-in-ones work. If the printer doesn't work because the cartridges run dry, nothing else works either. They don't allow you to use the scanner as a standalone piece.
Most likely the document scanner has gone bad. I'm not sure, but I think you may have to replace the entire scanner assembly and not just the scanner itself.
Canon parts are not cheep. Call a Canon shop and get a price on a replacement scanner unit.
You need to be more specific. Does nothing happen when you press the Copy button? Does it give you a blank page, a solid inked page, or no page for the copy? Do you get the same results for Color Copy or Black and White Copy?
I was having the same problem, and thanks to the person who posted solution number two which simply highlighted the fact that the apparently software that came with the Canon Pixma MX700 unit is not compatible with Window Vista.
The reason I was confused is because the printer was working perfectly fine across the network, but when I went to scan my computer would tell me that it can't communicate with the scanner. I'm thinking ... "well since you can communicate with the printer, you should be able to communicate with the scanner, after all, they're the same device!"
As a workaround, I used a third party program to do the scan (in this case, Photoshop) and everything worked fine. If you have Photoshop, just go to file > import to start the scan. If you don't have Photoshop, I would think whatever program you are using for image editing may have the same functionality.
i hate this
mine is doing the same thing
