TV picture doesn't work

The other day I was watching TV, and heard a pop. My tv now doesn't have a picture, but it does have sound. I'd like to note that for the past two years, the TV made a high pitched sound all the time. Any idea of what's wrong with it? Should I buy a new tv or can I get it fixed? Thanks!

the flyback transformer is bad per my TV repairman. He is telling me he cannot get the part. He said that the manufacturer can not provide us with the appropriate replacement part. I read on the related item that they found the part for $31.90, this was postede 10/22/2007. Where did they find the part?

That sounds to me like a flyback transformer went bad. I just had this issue because the ceramic coating on my flyback cracked and caused it to arc off. I got a new one delivered for 31.90 and soldered it in and viola! Perfect 32" tv once again.

I heard two popping sounds and now my television will not power on.

A popping sound as you describe sounds as if your tv blew a couple capicators on the main control board. More than likely , you are needing to aquire a new main circuit board.

No picture or sound on some channels

we cannot get a picture or sound on several channels. Otherwise the TV works fine. Any solutions? as you get p&s on several channels so your ser is ok the problem 1 loose contact near tuner or it is defective. 2 tuner signal line .

I was watching my Hitachi 42hdm12 and heard a pop and now the picture won't show up or sound or anything?

A pop is usually a power surge and you blew a board. If you take the tv apart, if this is it, it will be evident by the burn marks. You could have burned out the internal power supply as well.

Pop sound then no picture, just sound

I assume this is a plasma TV? You will have a fuse blown on either the Y or Z sutain board, there is also a possibility one of the driver IC's has blown on the buffer board, this will shut down the screen & leave the audio working normally. You can check these boards which sit on the left & right hand sides of the screen.

Picture started getting fuzzy then it went out

yes,remove the back of the tv,on the power board you will see the problem.replace those capacitors on the power board.this will allow the set to work.the black bars may still be there.this is an indication of a bad panel.

Your TV mainboard is damaged and need to be replaced, the price should be around $80-190 and you can do it yourself.
