The mode dial on my Kodak DX6490 Digital Camera is hard to turn!
It seems like you have to press the dial switch in just the right place in order to get the dial to move! I bought the camera used at a local Thrift store so I can not say if the person who donated the camera broke something inside the switch or not!Maybe I'm just not doing something right ,cause once I wiggle the dial switch around several times I do manage to make it turn real easy in order to turn the camera off or on! Does the switch just need a drop of lubricant? The camera looks like new even on the dial switch so I do not think it was dropped!Everything else seems to work fine and even takes nice pictures!Brian from Rothschild Wisconsin
Dissmantle the back case (watch for 1 hidden screw under rubber covers), lift plate on back of lcd screen, remove screw on back of dial, clean where it sits on both sides (most probably from a liquid spill...tea, coffee...) , apply some lube with a cottonbud ore a bit of tisue and rebuild.
hope this helps

Turn the Kodak's dial to "Capture" mode. This brings up the camera display. Press the "Program" button behind the dial.
Press the "Down" button until "Date Stamp" is highlighted. Press the "OK" or "Set" button to access the date-stamp menu.
Press the "Down" button to change the selection to "None." This removes the date stamp.
Press "OK" to save the setting. Press "Program" to return to capture mode.

I have the same problem. Kodak.com support won't help because they say the camera has been discontinued.
