My tv has had a dark area approx 8 in long on the left side of the screen. You can still watch tv but the image is shadowed. Also, when the tv is paused for any length of time through tivo or on a dvd the image will be retained once I start it back up again, almost a ghost image. Is the set shot ? Is there any way to fix this ?

bro you should take it to the repairer,No other options you have. it can't be fixed by doing anything accept changing it's screen or repairing it, if it's possible
Uh Oh! Your light engine is warping a little from overheating and
is distorting the picture. It usually means replacing the light
engine.
My suggestion to you is to get on the phone with Samsung and start
complaining, then keep complaining until they agree to pay for it. You
may have to get the problem diagnosed by a pro before they agree to pay
for it though.

Dark shadows can show up on a TV screen when the images have been displayed for a vert long time and have now become stuck in the LCD and the screen for your TV . Or the LCD and the TV's screen might be broken for your TV and needs to be replaced.
No,you can't. This is very common. I bought a new tv and i noticed right away that it had the problem you are mentioning. I took it back for an exchange and the next tv did not have this problem...until a year later. Now,of course it does have this problem,but it is out of warranty.
Have you tried magic focus? if that doesn't work replace the pcb convergence board,, It costs $96
and takes 10 minutes to replace you will have to manually line up your
convergence afterward as the settings go to factory default. Everyone

you could be on the right track get some freeze spray and go around all the parts to see if you can make it act up, same with heatgun or hair dryer when first turned on heat one area at a time to narrow your problem down

I also have the dark patch that runs down the left center of the screen on my Maxent LCD tv. I don't have any speakers near the tv.
I can't find information anywhere as to what can cause this problem. is the screen shot?
