No, a condensing unit has enough refrigerant to go about 35 ft or less, so less is noyt going to be a problem unless you added more than 35 feet and added more refrigerant even then 10 feet will not be much and not enough to adversely affect the operation

1.500 sq ft to how many linear ft?

Are you trying to convert 1,500 square feet to linear feet for wood flooring? You will need to know the width of the planks you are going to use in order to complete the formula; so multiply square feet times 12 and divide by the width of the wood (in inches) to get lineal feet.
Add 10% to that figure to compensate for waste cut outs and mistakes

With a typical line set, how much R-22 should a ckl30-1 2.5 ton a/c need?

the refrigeranterant charge is stamped on the unit data plate in ounces of freon. take this number and multiply it by 16 and get the pounds and the decimal point will need to be converted back to ounces. example 138 ounces equals 8.625 lbs of freon which is about 8 lbs and 8 0r 9 ounces. this is for a 15 foot lineset. measure your lineset and substract 15 , then take this number and add .6 per foot. .6 ounces of freon per foot of refrigerant line over 15 feet. you will have to use a quality digital scale to weigh in this total charge

My pictures are to dark

if you are doing flash photography you will have to limit the shots to a distance of 10-15 feet to get nicely lit pics. also try setting the exposure compensation to +2 to brighten up the pic. Also are you shooting on manual ???

How 2 add r22

The best way is weigh in a charge. of course the type of unit will come into play as split systems have enough refrigerant factory for up to 15 ft lineset or so, depending on units make etc. If a charge exists already and requires adjusting due to lineset length, or repairs etc, youcan simulate a 95 degree day ambient outdoors by restricting the air flow a bit to artificaially raise the head pressure as do low ambient controls, thus bringing the head to around 270lbs in a r 22 system or ambient plus 30 degrees , converted to prressure, so a 95 deg day plus 30=125 deg converted to pressure is 269 lbs, the indoor air temp being clse to 80 degreees helps, the indoor coil will be 40 degrees cooler than the indoor ambient if all is normal and design conditions are met by God or you. If the indoors 75, go to a 35 d
eg coil temp this is ball park, as the subcooling (15 deg)and superheat (10 at the evap coil, 20 at compressor) will need to be monitered along with amp draw and Delta T or temp differntials suply vs return.2_25_2012_2_55_05_am.png

@50/300 I assume it's a med. temp R-22 pump down walk in. Head pressure sounds a little high, probably been overcharged to compensate for a restriction in the metering device (or malfunctioning TXV). Check the solenoid (if pump down), metering device, and filter driers first. If that fails, lineset restriction or non-condensables/water in the charge would be next on my list.

I'm looking to replace both the inside and outside units. I'm now being told that since my old unit used R22 Refrigerant that the piping would need to be replaced because the new type Refrigerant R410a is...

Hello, if the lineset is accesible and not obstructed by anything i would recommend replacing the lineset, this is better because r-410a operates at higher pressures and the oil that mixes with the refrigerant is hygroscopic meaning abosrbs moisture very easily. Now if the lines are very hard to get to then you can flush the lines out with a product called pro flush that they sell at heating and cooling stores. But always better to replace the lineset.

the ONLY CORRECT way to charge one of these units is to WEIGH in the charge..

the Label on the side of the unit will give you the correct charge amount.. this is for 25 feet of Lineset on Each indoor unit... typically on a 9 or 12k btu indoor unit (1/4" liquid line) you will add 0.7 oz refrigerant extra per extra foot of lineset.....

the PFC board failure is a very common failure on all of the grunaire / chigo built units...

My Kenmore refrigerator is making a loud noise when running and when it shuts off it makes a loud clunking noise. Also, it is running about every 10 minutes. The refrigerator is 7 years old.

it sounds like the compressor insides are loose and you will be needing a new compressor, but just check and make sure the rubber mounting feet on the outer compressor base where its mounted to the refrigerator base are all tight and the rubber shocks are all good

I have a 2.5 ton carrier a/c on a roof with a 15 ft drop and a 200ft lineset is 7/8 and 3/8 going to work for this app

Normally the maximum lineset that can be used with a residential air conditioning unit is 50 feet. If the lineset is longer than this, it must be sized accordingly and without the model and serial number I am unable to do this.
