HP Pavillion Entertainment PC screen blank, power lights on

My HP screen won't come on and windows won't start up. After several attempts, removed power cord and battery and power up, it will start up sometimes start windows safe mode or normally and some times there is a repair option. Is there a repair?

My HP dv9000 went dead after the HP health check scan. Sent it to geek squad cmos chip corrupt...fried motherboard. KNOWN problem with this notebook and the nVidia chip. Geeks wanted $784.00 I had it sent back. Waiting to hear from HP. NOT holding my breath. Point being it's a known problem that HP "fixes" if within the 24 month from purchase. Mine was 25 months. I didn't seek out the recommended action they said to do and now I'm responsible? NOT

I have the smaller version of the same notebook and just started having this problem. I'll be in the middle of typing a document and everything will just go black! I thought at first I might have a virus or even the Conficker worm, so I ran it through Safe Mode tests and several scans. At least that's done and clean!

I'm discouraged to read that HP knows about the problem, and will probably do nothing about it. I don't guess I'll be buying a HP replacement. Any suggestions on a good substitute? I need this for my small business and can't be without a computer--at ALL.

I have had many correspondences back and forth with HP. Two weeks ago they agreed to fix it for free but told me I have to "be patient" until a case manager contacts me. I'm still waiting. All I want is for them to send me the darn box and get at it!

Try this put off the laptop and remove the battery and the power cable and then hold the power button from 30-60 seconds then put back the power cable(without battery) and switch it on it should work then shutdown and put battery pack in

try hitting F8 before windows attempts to load to enter the boot manager, from here you should select last known working configuration, if that fails, do the same except boot safe mode
