I was told the thermal fuse was probably blown. Ordered the part, even have a diagram of the inside of the dryer and where to find and replace fuse. But now I can't figure out how to get the back panel off. Is there some other access point for the thermal fuse that I missed?
Pry the top up at the corners and remove attaching screws for the front panel and remove carefully. Now you should be able to see the canister that contains the heat element and the thermal fuse. If your thermal fuse is bad you also need to replace the high limit thermostat switch which is located on the canister itself and check that the heating element is not broken anywhere throughout the coil.
Remove two screws from tilted front panel and remove. No prying should be required. I assume from your question the motor doesn't run since you specifically mention the thermal fuse. (If it does run but the drum doesn't turn you have a broken belt.)
If it runs but you get no heat it is either the cycling thermostat, Hi-Limit switch or heater coil open.
There are two thermal fuses in series with the motor connected with gray wires. One is on the motor housing cover and the other is on the Heater cover. They look identical. So check continuity with a meter. The instructions inside say to replace the cycling thermostat also if a thermal fuse is open.
