Okay- We have a multi room DVR (verizon only has one option for this) if we switch over to the other DVR (without multiroom option) our sound would work. As it turns out if we use a different (not hdmi)cable we can get sound, but loose our surround sound- (Hubby not happy about that)...so the solution for us, is Verizon is sending us a regular HD cable box that we will hook up to our HP 42" plasma...and we will hook up the multi room DVR on another TV in our house...such a pain, but at least my deaf husband will have his sound back...for now our house if peacful and we are listening to each other :-)Okay- We have a multi room DVR (verizon only has one option for this) if we switch over to the other DVR (without multiroom option) our sound would work. I also have the same problem of no HDMI audio. My Verizon FIOS STB is not the multi-room model. I have tried working with them for weeks on this but nothing has fixed the problem. The said I should try to update the firmware on my TV but I can't seem to find any firmware at at all for my TV. I also have the same problem of no HDMI audio. Due to certain limitations of the Panasonic DMR-EH75V, it can only accommodate composite Video INput and give composite Video OUTput as well as the standard Audio L/R. Additionally, if your Verizon FIOS HD cable box has an RF OUT, that can also be connected to the RF/CABLE IN of the Panasonic.
Please refer to the simplified diagram below.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
You can use a coaxial cable direct from the fios router to the TV. If you have a cable box converter then you can use S Video cables Red White and yellow, low quality, or component cables Red green and blue but you will also neeed audio which would be a red and white pair so 5 cables in total, better quality and finally an HDMI cable just one connection but high quality. The last is the most expensive and make sure to get the right length to reach the TV from the converter box Good Luck Ed Pinero
Is your cable box HD? It would be best for your tv. You can hook up a couple of ways depending on your receiver and tv in/out capabilities. You will always get best picture if you go directly from your cable box out to tv in. You should have capabilty to go HDMI out and perhaps Component out on your cable box. If you can't get hd receiver from cable company. Anyway, if you use HDMI, hook to HDMI out on receiver to HDMI in on tv. HDMI provides audio and video. You can also go componenet(red, blue, green) out from recevier to in on tv. I personally feel component gives you better picture but , doesn't carry audio. For that you need to get audio using either digital optical or, composite cables. You may have to set your HD on receiver through cable boxes menu. The last option is using composite cables(last choice, poorest picture and sound) yellow(video) and red, white(audio)
This is a tough one without seeing it. The audio is located on the main board. If you determine that it is not a problem w/ the hdmi cable, such as it not being secure to the tv and other device, then a new main board should fix the problem as long as it's not a problem w/ the the device that it is coming from. Have you tried another device w/ an hdmi cable to see if it still does it?
If by regular cables you are talking about the standard red/yellow/white composite cables, then, yes, it will affect HD as composite cannot send an HD signal. Only HDMI and component (red/blue/green video only) cables.
Change to HDMI and let us know if it works for you.
If you can first connect the Fios box via component and that will rectify the issue and still allow HD. HDMI is funny, if there is anykind of communication issues between the TV or the Fios box you see what happens. You might also call Samsung to see if there is ANY firmware/software updated for your TV specifically to fix such an issue with the Fios/Mortorola connection. If there isn't then the issue is the cable box since the TV works ok on HDMI with other devices.
Same TV with same porblem
