Drill it out with a drill bit so that you are removing the head of the screw. this will work i have done it many times.

Inside the chuck is a left-handed screw. torx (star) T20. When you get it out, take an allen wrench and (if you can tighten it up at all, tighten the **** out of it). If not, find an allen wrench, a tiny bit smaller than the space allowed. Now, get a nice big hammer. The chuck is right handed thread. And knock it, spinning the chuck off the spindle. May take a few whacks. Use the edge of a workbench to keep it stationery if need be. Please rate me

SOURCE: removing the dewalt DC925 'rohm' chuck

I simply placed the chuck into a large vise and turned the drill counter clockwise and the chuck spun right off no problem without damaging anything!! It does have some thread lock on the chuck but just use your man strength and its as simple as turning the lid off the pickle jar! Do not waste your time or money with the removal tool...YOU DONT NEED IT!

SOURCE: removing centre screw from chuck

Drill a hole in the top of the phillips head screw with a 3/16 th's bit. Don't drill the head of the screw off, just drill deep enough for a torx bit to hold. Take a T-30 torx bit and tap in into the hole you have drilled. Then turn the screw clockwise and it should come out fairly easily.

SOURCE: remove c keyless chuck from 18v dewalt drill

There is no loctite on the chuck threads, only blue loctite on the reverse screw. This is how I remove chucks.

Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting on the transmission. Remove the power source! Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck). Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. Let me know if this works for you!

Does a Dewalt 106 have a set screw?

Dewalt's DW106 does not have a set screw inside the keyless chuck to hold it on. This means the chuck was put on with enough lok-tite and torque to keep it on under most circumstances so getting it off will not be easy. If you're using the allen wrench-in-the-chuck method, give it a good firm whack until it breaks free.

How can I replace the keyless chuck on my Dewalt DWD215G?

Open the chuck wide open. In the center is a retaining screw, they usually have left hand threads. Remove the screw. Take an allen wrench1/4" to 3/8" in size and fasten the short side tightly in the chuck. The chucks are usually right hand thread, so take a small hammer and strike the allen wrench to turn the chuck to the left to loosen it. Once you have the chuck off, verify the thread size of the drill motor shaft, then go to McMaster-Carr and choose the one you need.

I have a dc 759 it has a plastic cover over the keyless chuck ....it is stripped out.....can i just replace the plastic cover? .... if so how and where can i get one

If the drill is not too old, I would take it to your nearest factory dewalt repair shop. they have a good warranty on their items. If it is older you probably need to replace the chuck itself. You need to remove the plastic to get the chuck open and then there is a screw down inside the chuck that needs removed. The chuck should come right off and just reverse the process to install the new one.

The dc925 and the current model dcd950 along with several other models of Dewalt 's line of cordless hammer drills DO NOT have a screw inside removal requires a CHUCK REMOVAL FIXTURE part #
233804-40 also you can't use a generic replacement chuck. As of 2/2/2010 the prices on the Dewaltservicenet web site are $72.74 for
the tool and $69.70 for the chuck, part # 330075-90.

Can't remove the chuck retaining screw.

The screw is a LEFT HAND THREAD and also is LIKELY a Metric size!

Make sure you use a Metric Allen wrench.
