The speaker plug/outlets is usually
at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side.
You will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the
rear of the input plug make
sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity.
Clean your computer of dust
using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is
no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU
central processing unit.

SOURCE: no sound
Try plugging a known good headset into the jacks behind the PC. Still no sound! Open control Panel, open Sound & Audio Devices. Click on the Audio tab. In the sound playback section a device should be shown. Click the Voice Tab, the same device should be there as well. Lastly, Open (System) while in control panel. Click the (Hardware) tab & than click Device manager. Scroll down to Sound, video & game controller. Do you see a yellow !. If yes there is a problem with your intergrated sound controller. You can try downloading & installing the sound drivers
for your PC at : http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
If that still does not help than install a PCI sound card to your PC. Install the CD that comes with it.
