Ohm out the thermal fuse, if it is ok, then you can ohm out the heating element, be sure to visually check the element as well becqause it could just be shorted out internally giving you a reading, but first and foremost check your voltages be sure you are getting 240 across the outer plug spades and 120 volts from left to common and right to common, unplug this thing before you get into the element area or you could end up with a smokin fro !

Dryer no longer hot

Could be the element, thermal overload, loss of one leg of the AC supply, a burned off wire or timer. Do you have fuses or circuit breakers? If you have breakers reset the breaker and see if the heat works. If you have fuses check each with an ohm meter. One leg of the 110VAC will run the motor but you need 220VAC to make the element heat. (that is if this is a 220VAC dryer).

This model dryer has two heating elements, one for the top and one for the bottom, I suspect that the bottom element is burned out. If you want to attempt it yourself then I can send you a service manual that will walk you step by step through the whole dryer.

Maytag neptune dryer doesnt heat

On the housing the element mounts in is a couple of safetys The smaller one is rated for 300f and the bigger one is rated for 250f. If the smaller one is tripped obviously you replace them both, making sure the vent to outside is clear. Them fuses blow or trip because of air restrictions.

The dryer is blowing cold air, no heat.

Find your thermal protection switch. It looks like a big round button with two screws holding it on either side. (Make sure your drier is unplugged!) There will be a wire going from it to the heating element. It is what regulates the temperature, so it doesn't overheat. Unplug the wires off it and check across the terminals with an ohm meter. It should have full continuity. If not, it's your problem. Replace it. Easy repair.

My dryer won't heat. Maytag DE410

Hi,

Make sure front of dryer is not blocked, air flow is needed to dry.Check that the lint filter and exhaust duct is clean.

Check the blown fuses and home’s circuit breaker tripped. Dryer use 2 household Fuses or a circuit breakers, If one is blown, the dryer may still operate but not heat. Alternatively, the dryer may heat, but it may not heat up as hot as it should. Replace the Fuses or reset the circuit breaker.

Another common cause of a dryer failing to heat is a faulty Heating Element. You will need to replace it.
Good Luck and have a nice day. Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

My Maytag Dryer model DE308 takes 2 hours to dry a load of clothes. I have air flow, but after an hour, the clothes are still damp. THe dryer does not have the heat that it used to. I know that with the...

Good day,
Your right on the heating element.
If your positive the vent system to the outside is clean, then
Remove the front panel of the dryer, and inspect the blower wheel. If worn on the shaft(slipping), it needs replaced.
2. Remove the whole front panel to access the blower housing and the chute going to the lint filter. Clean as needed. (common problem).
3. If everything checks clean, then the thermostat that is mounted on top of the heating element canister is the most common problem but is only one of the thermostats.

Maytag uses a lot of air versus heat for drying. That is why it is important that part of the system is correct.

Blowing cold air

There is not a reset button on an electric dryer that I know of. If a dryer is blowing air at all, that tells me that the blower assembly and drum motor are working. If you have not heat it is generally caused one of the following:

1. Bad thermal cut-out - located near the heating element housing. Should read a SHORT (0 ohms on an ohm meter) if good. If bad, it is generally a good idea to replace the TCO along with the Hi-Limit Thermostat (mounted right next the TCO in most cases) because the TCO is designed to protect the thermostat and heating element. If the TCO fails, it is likely that the thermostat could also be damaged.

2. Hi-Limit Thermostat failure - located near the heating element housing. The thermostat opens when the internal heat reaches about 157 degrees (on most dryers). This helps regulate the dryer temperature and helps protect the heating element. If it reads a constant OPEN (infinity reading on an ohm meter), replace it along with the TCO (as mentioned above).

3. Bad Heating Element - located under the drum on some dryer models and in the rear on others. The element should read about 9-11 ohms if good. If they go bad, the element will generally burns itself OPEN.

I will need you model number (located near the dryer door opening) in order to give you better advice on how to access the inside of the dryer. Post back with comments and let me know. I hope you find this helpful.

PS I hope I didn't insult your intelligence, but some people are little more saavy than others, so I try to explain things in the simplest of terms.
