Front wheel problem

Hi! My roomba 4210 front wheel is having problems with the rotation sensor. I tested it and does'nt switch 0 to 1. I made all the diagnostic tests. Left wheel running alone (separately) fine, also the right wheel, the side brush, the vacuum and all the sensors (bumper and the others) exept the front wheel rotation sensor. But, the big brush just make a pulse (start's and stop really quick with no 360 degre turns) and roomba turns off. Also, when the two traction wheel test is selected it only make a pulse and roomba stops again. If I want to stop the diagnostic tests with the power button it flash red quickly until the battery is removed. No sounds from my speaker. I took apart my roomba and cleaned everything (sensors, brush, electronic) but only with compressed air and paper towels.Nothing changed. Could the front wheel rotation sensor cause all these problems?? I also changed the mainboard for a other working one and now the side brush is the only motor working and all sensors (the front wheel sensor is not changed yet). I unpluged and tested the big brush motor with a 9V battery and turns fine. Please help me cause I'm out of ideas. Thanks a lot!!

I would send it to protechrobotics. they will test all your components and let you know what needs to be done. if the repair is more than it's worth--they will help you out too.

Goes circles 4210

I had this problem with mine, it was just going in a circle, some people suggested to clean the bump sensor with air, it may work for you, but it didn't for me, I found out that the problem was a servo motor at one of the wheels, bought a refurbished set of wheels, took the Roomba apart and replaced the part, working like a champ.

Roomba 4210 won't start

  • Lift Roomba off the floor and place it in the center of the room and restart the clean cycle.
  • If Roomba did not resume cleaning, lift Roomba and turn it over.* Inspect the Side Wheels for dirt or obstructions.
  • Test the Side Wheels by pushing them in and out and making sure they rotate freely. Place Roomba in the center of the room and restart the clean cycle

I starts and tehn stops and beeps three times. I can start it aain and it will run but then it does the same thing'

    Hi,

TYhe iRobot Roomba has different model designations. Here is a webpage with a list of what the beeps mean in the 400 series. I am thinking that is what you have. 3 beeps means the dirt cup is dirty, filters are dirty, or debris in collecting and it needs to be cleaned.

    Here is the webpage: http://uksupport.irobot.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1047/kw/iRobot%20Roomba%20Discovery%20SE%20Bagless%20Robotic%204200%20series%20Vacuum%20beeps%203%20times/related/1

Hope this helps. If it does, I would appreciate a vote. Thanks,

My roomba won't go forward; it just rotates right ~90 degrees and then left ~90 degrees. I've cleaned the brushes, taken it apart and cleaned the brush gears, popped off the front wheel and cleaned the...

Hi. You will need to replace the old/damaged IR LEDs in the front bumpers optical. If you are comfortable using a soldering iron, I can supply you the parts needed.

After installing a new battery after not using Roomba for over 1 year it will not drive straight

Ok. What I would do is to disassemble the Roomba, clean both its wheels, Cleaning Head Module (including the gears) and the front bumper sensors. If after cleaning the front bumper sensors and same problem...you will need to replace the sensors. It's more than likely one or more of the IR LED are damaged.

    Brushes not spinning

Side brush? Main brush? both? How did you find that they are not spinning? To properly test, place the front wheel on the table edge and hold the wheels up in the machine (dont hold the tires) , Then start the clean mode.
If it doesnt spin then you need to open the roomba and remove the motor to see if it is just binded up with lint. If the motor spins with your fingers then test the motor with a power supply to see if it is possibly burnt out. If it works on a power supply then your issue is on the main board and it needs replacing.

    Roomba wheel -- stuck

I had a similar problem, I just took my Roomba Red apart and put it back together about four times before I fixed it.  In my case it turned out to be a dirty sensor, fixed as described at
    http://mysteryroad.blogs.com/photos/roomba_gallery/xintroroomba_3549.html

Before you open it up I recommend following the diagnostic tests to see if its a physical problem (bad motor belt, hair stuck around the wheel) or a sensor problem (dirt makes Roomba think it is stuck when it isn't).  If you follow the diagnostics one of them will move the Roomba wheels while ignoring the sensors; if the wheels move fine then you probably have a sensor problem.

    My roomba runs in circles

Try using a leaf blower, up close and all around. I was having problems with (I assume) the sensors under the bumper and (maybe) the wheel sensors, but after blowing it out with a leaf blower it works fine.
