1. Go to your START Menu, select ALL PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES, then MICROSOFT PAINT.
2. Once inside of Paint, in the upper left corner you will see a blue square; please click on that and select FROM SCANNER OR CAMERA.

Next you need to go to Canon's website and in Driver and Support, get the latest drivers for your Canon. printer.

Your present software does not have these new updates. this is why you are getting this error code for your scanning support. It is not yet compatible with your new platform.

Install the Canon toolbox software and use a program that can use a twain driver

There is an option button that ask if you want to scan to a pc and it gives you the option to choose a named pc on the network.

When you installed the canon drivers did you install MP Navigator? That's the program you use with the MX452 that runs the scanner. Its on the disk that comes with the printer.

Carriage error/ need to clean thoroughly. Or dirty disk film ( clock pulse) clean it as well.

Do you get an error code?
Is the error on the PC or Printer?
Can you print?
How is the Printer connected USB or Wireless

the first is the error code will determine where the fault lies.. if in the 5000 range.. its a hardware problem and would need to be repaired by a service center or repairer.
if you get the printer error.. check the cable or wireless connections
if the PC error it could relate to software you are using to scan too, even if you acquire the correct twain driver (select source).. some are not compatible.. try the scan function in your Canon Utilities IJ Scan Utility. Scan it there first and save it as a PDF or image file.
if you can print its not a connection problem if you cannot print try another USB/printer cable Or make sure your device is setup for wireless run the installation software again and complete the wireless procedures in setup. If you dial the mx452 does it indicate it is ringing. If not it does not see the phone line, if it does
try to fax to a phone you can here, does it ring? no need to answer. If not you you have a dialling out issues
