Have you tried changing the focusing mode to one of the other settings? I usually find central point setting best for zoom. Alternatively, you could try using Macro (the flower) setting - I leave mine on this all the time it's really the best general purpose mode.

Picture not focused at 12x zoom

It's probably something to do with a lag or jam on your shutterspeed. so when you hit the button, and move you get a little blur. If its not this you might need to have your lens cleaned inside and out due to the camera zooms and catches the blurs on the lens after zooming so far in. I would recommend taking it to your local camera shop for adjustments and cleaning.

Panasonic H-FS014042 not working with GF1

If you placed the lens correct, till it clicked while turning, it should work correct. Did you check if there was anything on the contacts, before placing the lens?
Can you focus manually? and is your camera in the auto focus mode?
I can't make more at this moment. Success.

Lumix Panasonic DMC FZ28 18x optical zoom, 27mm wide pix always out of focus... what could be the problem? thanks!

Does it make 2 beeps and have a green spot in the center of viewfinder/lcd? if so it is thinking it is focused, test this to see. If it is 2 beeps but definitely out of focus, it will need to go in for a back-focus alignment. Simple operation for the repair team.

HELPPP!! My camera will not focus when zooming at all.

Hi,

is it possible that the focus switch on the left side of the lenses is set to macro, or manual focus? That could make your camera "go blind".

Panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 won't focus

See the post for the same camera: "Buttons stopped working": there is a small 2 position switch connected to the zoom button. In my camera the zoom switch was stuck in one of the extreme positions. You have to put it back in the middle an re-assemble.

Camera doesn't focus

There are many reasons why images can appear out of focus. strangely if you think about it it is not focusing per se like photographic cameras the focus is at infinity by default- from about 50cm - out So if the images appear out of focus these are some of the reasons shots taken in low light with a low ASA setting resulting in long exposure -thus camera shake. Focus hunting- there are various methods used but if the mechanism cannot 'lock' onto something the focus motor will 'hunt' Faulty zoom Optic Zoom mechanism. Inadvertently set to 'Macro' mode Grease on the lens Careful checking of the camera- its settings- with the manual is essential before declaring the camera faulty Don't forget the paper manual is a nodensed version of the full manual on the software disk.

Pictures have come out blurry and out of focus

The most common problems that most new users encounter are: 1. Trying to focus closer than @7 ft. when zooming at greater than 6x. The camera won't do it, and that zoom is tempting. 2. Not waiting for the lens to focus before completing the shutter press. Try holding the shutter at half-press until you see the steady green indicator, then gently press fully to take the shot while holding as steady as you can. 3. Expecting too much from OIS. If you're seeing the "jitter" icon a lot, that means that you're into the range of slower shutter speeds that OIS might not be able to compensate for.You might try switching to a higher ISO speed (or turning on more lights)-- yes there will be more noise, but it'll quicken the shutter speed, and a non-blurry pic that's noiser is better than a clean blurry one. . . and you'll learn a little about what you're camera will do under different conditions. Also, you have to really make the effort to hold the cam steady, even with OIS, especially when using slow shutter speeds.
