are you inside when trying this ? Garmin has a very bad reputation in acquiring satelites when in coverered position. Go outside and you will notice it goes much faster.
When you change geographical locations with any GPS it will take a lot longer for the GPS to acquire the sattelites. Hold the GPS out in an unobstructed area and switch it on. Be patient it will acqurie the signals if it was working before you left home.
you need to go outside in an open area with no trees around and turn the garmin on untill it receives a sat connection it can take several minutes for it to find it
