Washing machine usually have different wash cycles you can chose from. The washing machine should go into a spin mode to get most of the water out of the cloths at the end of the wash cycle. You might try another wash cycle on the washer and see if the washer goes into spin mode and gets most of the water out. If it goes into spin mode on one cycle and not another my experience has been it is the timer which is part of the switch where you chose which wash cycle you want.. My experience is only working on my washers and driers of the last 40 years. I have washed cloths with what ever cycle worked till I could change timer.
My washer was just doing the same thing shaking like crazy on spinning cycle whirlpool model WTW4800xq0 I just change the 4 suspension spring balancer rods part #W10820048 and it work like new againg search amazon cheaper than sears easy to change I hope this help some body and save money this parts cost $50 dollars on amazon
There are several different problems that may result in
basket wobbling and machine shaking heavily during the spin cycle.
Sometimes the shaking can result in spin cycle not ending, like in your
case.
To find out what the problem is the washer must be taken apart and the tub removed.
A common situation is given by a defective drive hub.
At
the end of this comment there is a movie showing how to reach and
replace the drive hub in whirlpool top load washers. In this washer you
will find a more complicate device instead of the hub shown in the
movie. There is a pulsator, the balancer and other parts that must be
inspected. The two assemblies are indicated respectively as part 52 and
56 in diagram nr.1 below. Here the part list: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5239648&diagram_id=26470626#d26470626
If you find a foreign object such as a cloth below the tub, then that can be cause for the shaking and wobbling.
Unit probably has bad main shaft and bearings. Worn bearings will cause excessive shaking on spin cycle. The shaft, bearings and seal will have to be replaced. Also if you grab the tub by the top and shake it up and down, it will have a little play in it. That will confirm bad tub shaft bearings. It's a pretty big job for a DIY.
This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action
Enter your model number (###.######) and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
Whirlpool / Kenmore top load, direct drive washers use a number of springs between the main suspension plate and base assembly as well as friction pads that are designed to minimize shaking.
See the Whirlpool / Kenmore service manual for top load washers.
