Getting the following message from windows live mail, any help appriciated Unable to send or receive messages for the email account. The connection to the server has failed. Server: 'mailin.manx.net'...

The most likely explanation is that your ISP (manx.net?) server is temporarily down. You can connect by webmail?
If it is manx net then you can try accessing your e-mails by logging in on here.
If you can access through web browser, but want to set up windows live mail click here.
Settings for manx.net - for Windows Mail but same will apply in Outlook.
Hope it helps.

HP 4670 Scan to email: how to open Windows Live mail, not OE

Click the Show Menu button, and choose Options; if you see the traditional menus, go to Tools > Options. Both open the Options dialog: under the General tab, which should be selected by default, locate the bottom section, labeled "Default Messaging Program":

img1a2.jpgIf Windows Live Mail is not currently the default email program on Windows, the text next to the first button will read "This application is NOT the default Mail handler". Click the Make Default button, and it will be disabled (grayed out).

img1d.gif Confirming your change of default email clientThe text has now changed to "This application is the default Mail handler".This is a bit misleading, because Windows Live Mail will not becomeyour default email application until you actually have clicked the Ok or Apply button to confirm the change in configuration.
img36wlm.jpgSoclick Ok (no need to Apply first), and Windows Live Mail's optiondialog will close, integrating your new option choices. It is that easyto make Windows Live Mail your default email program. (If Windows LiveMail was already your default email client, nothing will happen.)
