Take paper draw out of the machine you mite have paper behind the draw preventing sensor monitoring that draw from working properly. Mite get some can air an get any paper dust off the sensor for that draw. Is paper properly installed and are the paper guides securing the paper properly installed? Don't be storing additional paper in the draws. Is paper in the draw matching what is on the operators panel.
One of your paper draws has paper behind it or are you storing paper in the paper draws beside the paper that is in the draw for the copiers normal operation. Just because the draw is not being use to store 11x17 paper do not store extra paper in the draw if it is set for 81/2x11. the mental plate in the draw rises once the draw in closed any paper beside that is in there other then for proper operation can cause lift codes. If this is large capcity draw they are only designed for portrait 81/2x11 paper nothing else don't try legal or landscape 11x81/2 even if placed right in the middle of the draw
Your lift motor, for second paper tray draw, or third draw, are you storing extra paper in the second or third draw, beside the paper properly placed in the draw. Is there paper behind the draw? Do not store extra paper in a paper draw. Just because the draw has space not setup for 11x17 paper and is being used for 81/2x11 dont store extra paper. If this is a large capacity tray for over 500 sheets paper can only be set up for 81/2x11 protrait not landscape.
Check if the rubber draw rollers are pressing the paper down properly. If this is okay then see what is the default thickness of paper that has been configured . Similar problem had happened when my friend had printed a whole stack on photo paper and set the thickness of paper to highest level to ensure paper is not stuck inside, later it would not draw in normal thicknes paper till we rest the paper settings.
