I just got the TV and it turns on for 15 mins and then shuts off

I plugged it in when I got it home, knowing that it had a problem but it worked for the first 15 minutes and then shut its self off, then came back on in a few seconds and now it won't come back on. I left it unplugged for a while and tried it again and it works then shuts off. Any ideas? would be cool if it was a cheap fix, I got the TV for nothing.

If it were me I would open it up and start looking for bad capacitors on the boards. If they are getting bad they should be domed out at the top. When you find them make sure you mark the way they are mounted on the board. I always used a permanent marker and put a line on the board according to where the stripe on the capacitor was. If there are more than one bad capacitor try replacing them one at a time (dont turn the tv on until they are all replaced) this will help reduse confusion as to which new one goes in which hole.

TV has static but no picture. When I turn on the TV, I hear 2 clicks and static. Pushing the power button again, static stops and red LED light turns on. After 15 min. TV automatically shuts off.

Check your antenna is plugged in the right place.
Switch TV on then goto it's menu setting, if the menu appears then at least you know the screen works.
As a test, plug in a DVD player to one of the HDMI ports and try to play something. Make sure you select the proper input source from the source menu and see if you get a picture.
If you do then it narrows the problem down.
Next, from the menu, select TV source to see if picture comes.
There are a number of other sequences depending on what decoder or Viewer box you have, if it's just Freeview antenna then you may have a problem with that.
Make sure you've done the auto tune procedures too.....

55" model. Why does it play for a couple of hours, then shut down?

Sounds like you have a parental setting on the tv that is set to only allow 2 hrs then shuts down... try going into the menu and looking for parental settings or sleep settings... if that isn't it try spacing the tv away from the wall to allow circulation... it may be over heating... next would be to get a circuit checker for the wall plug and make sure the polarity is right at the power source... you would be surprised at how many homes are wired bkwards... usually sign of this problem is electronics in your home seem to burn out with in 6 months or sooner... tester has 3 to 4 lights on the bk of it and looks like a wall plug.. costs about 5 $

Sound goes off after 15 Min

Assuming it is not hardware but soft settings...
1) Check and make sure that your TV does not have the timer set.
The Timer feature allows you to set a day and time for the TV to turn on automatically and the device and channel to display when it switches on. If the TV is already on at the requested time, the TV automatically tunes to the channel you designated in the Timer menu.
When the Timer turns on the TV, the following message is displayed: "Press a button for the TV to stay on." Press any button on the remote control within five minutes if you wish the TV to remain on.
Note: The TV clock must be set before you can use the
Timer feature (see preceding page to set the clock).
On/Off
Press down arrow / up arrow to enable or disable the Timer.
2) If not working, try SYSTEM RESET. Press SYSTEM RESET button on the front panel with pointed object (e.g. straight paperclip). TV turns off, green LED flashes for about 1 minute. When it stops flashing turn the TV on again. All settings other than Parental Lock need to be set again using the manual.
3) TV RESET. If all else fails for soft error. Your manual describes this last resort for soft type error. It could be hardware problem needing more expertise.

TV turns on for about 10-15 min then turns off

Sounds like a tuner section problem. When you are playing a DVD. You are only using the audio video circuit of the TV. Something like a monitor. But when you go back to TV mode... You are now in the tv tuner circuit. And your problem lays there. I had a mouse **** on my tuner section of my tv and it caused the same problem. Yes mice do ****...
