I have an old Kenmore and here are the directions from my manual: 1. Draw thread from spool through bobbin winder tension discs. 2. Wind thread around an empty bobbin several times. 3. Place bobbin onto bobbin winder shaft with thread coming from rear of bobbin. Push bobbin winder latch against bobbin until it clicks. 4. Release clutch by turning clutch knob toward you. Start machine.

SOURCE: instructions for theading a Sears Kenmore Sewing machine model 158.14000

all machines thread the same. TTN tension, take up, needle.
Beginning with the spool, guide the thread through the thread guides to the tension assembly. Pull the thread through the tension assembly and test it to make sure the tension is working correctly.
(To do this test, adjust your tension setting to normal or medium or 5 or something in the middle. Raise the presser foot and pull the thread through the tension. It should pull easily!! Lower the presser foot and pull the thread. It should pull noticeably harder.) If it passes this test, continue up through the take up lever, then down through the thread guides to the needle. Make sure your needle is fully inserted and turned the correct way.( If you load your bobbin case from the left side, the needle rule is normally FLAT to the RIGHT is RIGHT. There are some exceptions. If you have a newer style drop in bobbin or your bobbin case loads in the front then the rule is FLAT to the BACK.

To wind the bobbin, guide the thread around the thread guide on
the left top of your machine, then to the bobbin winder. Wind the thread around the bobbin several times, place the bobbin on top of the bobbin winder, push it against the wheel and press the foot pedal. It should stop winding when the bobbin is full or you take your foot off the control

I need to know how to thread my tcm sewing machine as i have no instructions as it was given to me thank you

I do not know this model but why don't you visit www.about.sewing.com, there is good general threading information there as well as care and maintenance tips for sewing machines. Older machines need oiling, many modern ones have nylon parts or oiling wicks so not required so often. If you can see red marks on parts of the machine, these are usually oiling spots.

sewing machines are usually horizontal top loading bobbins where the bobbin goes into a bobbin holder and the thread gets clicked into a tension spring.

Or vertical front loading bobbins inside a removable bobbin case with a tension spring on the outside of the bobbin case.

Top threading up is usually through a number of eyelets, through a tension device of some sort, then down to the needle.

Remember, the scarf (cut out) of the needle should face to the back of the machine. Most domestic sewing machines use 130/704H needle system and the needle has a flat shank which goes to the back in the needle holder so you get this right.

You can also try www.sewingpartsonline.com or www.sewusa.com, both list some instruction manuals and threading diagrams for some makes and models.

Bobbin tension problem with kenmore model 385.16231300

If You have a drop in bobbin you will have to remove the hook and adjust the tension, however try adjusting the top tension before you remove the hook.

Thread is bunching up around the bobbin casing

On the bobbin case is a small screw if it is to loose the thread won't feed like it should make sure that screw is tight but not so tight you can't get the thread through it. Also check to make sure you have threaded the top right. hope that helps

Kenmore Model 385.16231300

I discovered the same problem. What I figured out (after having the machine "repaired" several times) is that it seems as if the bobbin type may be the suspect. I started looking closely and it seems as if I have 2 different types of bobbins. So, I tried both types. Since I don't know the bobbin number(s), you will have to put up with my description .... the bobbin that is flat, top & bottom, seems to bunch up. The bobbin "bounces" when I sew. The bobbins that are rounded on the top and bottom don't seem to "bounce" and it doesn't bunch up the lower thread. Now, I have read my manual front to back and it does not say what bobbin type or number to use. So, if anyone knows, it would be a great help. I am assuming the correct bobbin is the "class 66" bobbin. Does anyone know for sure?

Getting the Bobbin threaded in the Machine

when this has happened to me, the upper thread has somehow run amuck. check to make sure the top thread is STILL routed properly. It might have nothing to do with the bobbin.
