SOURCE: front loading maytag washer door won't open. Help!!

Remove the lower front panel.Reach up inside near the latch. Feel for a ring tab. Pull it down firmly while pulling on the door.
Then open the cabinet and check all the wire connections in the latch circuit. Check the wax motor ohms. The wax motor probably needs replacing.

SOURCE: MAYTAG NEPTUNE DOOR LOCKED WILL NOT OPEN!

The comment posted 14 may 2009 it what helped me. DO NOT PRY OPEN the door. Find the release cord inside the soap dispenser,,,you may have to remove the 4 screws and lift it from the washer like i did. I had to lean into the door and pull the cord to release the lock. It was not a system error. The washer was over loaded and although the door was closed and locked...the load pushed the door enough to indicate that it was open and would not wash. After opening the door, rearranging the load and removing some, the door closed and latched locked and was able to continue with the wash. DO NOT PRY OPEN,,,use the cord release first,,,this worked for me.

I have an IQ touch front load washer. lately I have noticed a mildew smell coming from the clothes and drum after washing. i have followed the manual and completed the refresh and comlete cleaning...

Water can remain in ANY washer after the load is done. With a top-loading washer, it's easy to leave the lid up so that the water evaporates. With a front loader such as yours, however, the open door can take space in your laundry area, so we usually close the doors. I suggest that you take a dilute solution of chlorine bleach and water and put it on a disposable cloth and wipe down the inside of your washer as well as the areas around the door itself and the part of the washer that the door closes onto. Once you've done this, leave the door open until the smell dissipates OR overnight. If you will get into the habit of leaving the door open for a couple of hours after you're done with your laundry, you will probably solve the problem.
I really hope this helps. If it does, please come back to Fixya and rate my solution.

Once the wash cycle begins, the washer door is locked and cannot open until complete cycle is done. Is this normal or is there a way to stop wash cycle and open the door?

If this is a front load washer, yes it's normal.
You wouldn't want your laundry and all the water falling out on the floor because the door didn't lock, would you ?

If you get the FL how do you get the door to open??

  1. Your Maytag Neptune washing machine displays error codes, also called "help codes," to identify specific problems with your washer. Once you close your Maytag Neptune's door, the machine locks the door, goes through the selected wash cycles and unlocks the door when the laundry is finished. Error codes appear when there are problems with the door, the inflow and drainage of water and the motor.
  2. Do
  3. Your Maytag Neptune washer displays the "do" help code when the washing machine is trying to start a cycle, but the door is open or not locked properly. If this message is displayed, close the door securely and restart the washing cycle.
  4. FL
  5. The "FL" code indicates that the washing machine was unable to lock the door after you closed it. Open and close the door tightly, then restart the washing cycle.
  6. Sd
  7. The "Sd" code indicates that you have added too much detergent to the washing machine and your laundry has too many suds. The machine will stop displaying this code if it has successfully run the suds recovery cycle, which removes the excess suds from the wash load. If the code remains, reduce the amount of detergent in the load. Use less detergent for similar loads of laundry in the future.
  8. PF
  9. The "PF" code indicates that a power failure has occurred. Restart the wash cycle. If the code still appears, check that the washing machine is still plugged in to the electrical outlet.
  10. Nd
  11. The "nd" code indicates that your Maytag Neptune is not draining as it should. Check that the drain hose isn't kinked and that the stand pipe isn't clogged. If you find either of these problems, fix them before restarting the washing cycle.
  12. LO
  13. The "LO" code appears when the washing machine has finished the selected wash cycle, but cannot unlock the door. Verify that the door is closed properly, push the "Off" button, and wait two minutes. The door should unlock and the error code will disappear. If the error code remains, unplug the washing machine, wait two minutes and plug it back into the electrical outlet.
  14. Lr
  15. The "Lr" code indicates that the washing machine's motor is not running as it should. Have your Maytag Neptune washing machine serviced by a certified Maytag repair professional.

Samsung Front Load washer has odour

IMPORTANT: Read thoroughly. DO NOT add detergent or other laundry products to this cycle.
1. Remove all items from the washer.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and 2/3 cup (160 mL) of liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment. DO NOT use more than 2/3 cup (160mL) of bleach per cycle as this will lead to product damage.
3. Close the washer door and dispenser drawer.
4. Select the Clean Washer cycle or a full wash cotton 104 F wash (40 C). DO NOT use any higher temperature as this will cause unnecessary fumes
5. Press Start and allow cycle to complete.
6. If the bad odour persists, repeat the procedure 1 or 2 more times. This may be necessary if this is the first time you have run this cycle.
7. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open slightly to allow ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
8. Repeat the cleaning procedure monthly.
To maintain the washer freshness:
1. Use only HE High Efficiency detergent.
2. Leave the door open after each cycle to for better ventilation and drying of the washer interior.
3. Use warm / hot water in your machine unless the fabric you are washing requires cold.
4. Use the correct amount of fabric softener.
5. If your laundry room is damp, use a dehumidifier.
6. Clean the door seal of visible residue.
