I opened the TV, but no "switch" on the PCB to do a "reset to factory". ... You almost certainly need the remote, and also the service manual that .... and I was able to get into the menu by remote and to disable the Child lock.

Possibly, you will need an original remote to disable or turn off this feature. And some child lock can be accessible through neither MENU of your tv or remote. Check CHILD LOCK option to remove it. If it is a screen lock type of CHILD LOCK feature of tv (a Blue Background display a LOCK icon) and your original remote is lost, try a universal remote for you to possibly unlock it. THE SOLUTION FOR THIS FIX, AS IT WORKED FOR ME....I WAS LOCKED OUT BBY THE DUMB CHILD LOCK FOR TWO MONTHS, BOOUGHT A NEW REMOTE THAT DIDNT WORK....GET A 10$ REMOTE FROM THE STORE, AND ENTER CODE 0224 IT KILLS THE CHILD LOCK FEATURE..THEN YOU CAN POWER ON THE TV..GO TO MENU AND SELECT CHILD LOCK AND DEACTIVATE IT! THANKS ALOT MAGNAVOX..IT WAS NOT IN THE MANUAL FOR THE TV OR THE REMOTE FOR THE TV EITHER......CAPERS~

According to page 16 of the owner's manual, you cannot disable child lock without the remote. Because you have lost the remote, the unit does not offer a manual way to disable that feature. I am not sure if a universal remote will allow you to enter the setup menu, and turn the child lock OFF. You could try that - it might work.

Personally, child lock in DVD players is a pointless and unnecessary extra feature that should not exist; it should really only apply to Blu-Ray/DVD recorders.

something simalar happened to me a while back,i had to hol 2 buttons in at once to deactivate,I googled my problem,you need the serial no and brand,then just type

"deactivate child lock on LG model No ******",I'm sure you'll find it....

Do you use the remote control or buttons on the tv itself? Many TVs have a child lock feature that will prevent operating the TV without the remote control. If you use the remote control you should be able to change chanels, and to disable the child lock from the menu.
