Maytag gas dryer mdg9306awa anits sounds like it wants to start but doesnot

that is the motor, try this, open the door, push the door switch in with one hand and spin the drum with the other hand while someone else pushes the start button,if by moving the drum the motor does start to run the motor is bad, also you have the neptune style maytag and i don't think there's a belt switch in the model so if the belt broke it could be jammed in the motor, try spinning the drum to help it start if that doesn't work unplug the dryer, open the door, remove the two screws that hold the door on and then remove the other two screws on the opposite side, grab the top of the front panel and pull forwards to remove the front panel, you can leave the door on or lift it up and pull out to remove the door, now look to see if the belt broke,if the belt is rapped around the center of the drum then it isn't broke and it will be the motor, that's a good dryer and worth changing the motor on it.

A buzz sound when pushing start

That is a bad sign. If the buzzing starts when you press the start button and stops when you release its almost safe to say that the motor has a dead short or grounded out and causing that to happen. You can check the start switch by getting a multimeter and with the dryer unplugged take the wires off the switch, place a lead on each pin and press the start with meter set for continuity. If it shows continuity when presed and stops when released your motor is shot and needs to be replaced.
Now if you press the start button and the machine starts to hum and continues to hum its possible that something has gotten caught in the blower wheel and binding the motor up. Depending on the make and model the location and access to it vaaries.
If you can turn the drum and then the dryer starts you have a bad motor. The way the dryer works is when you initially push the start button, electricity is sent to the start winding, or stator, of the motor. This will in turn start the motor turning. From there the stator will drop out of the electrical process and at the same time the run winding, or rotor, will take over and the motor will continie to run. Your stator is damaged, has a burn spot, etc so by you turning the drum, the belt around the drum is moved which is attached to the motor pulley. You basically take the place of the stator. Long story short, you have a bad motor.

Drum wont turn.pust start and hear a buzz but drun wont turn

I have found that the switch activated by the door close or turns on the interior light when open on is likely the problem. You may notice that if the door is open and you push the start button, it will buzz. So if the door is closed and you get this buzz when pushing the start button, there is a problem with the door switch. The start button "thinks" the door is open, and therefore not start. The defective door switch needs to be replaced. At least highly likely.

Kenmore 500 series dryer won't start. Only 2.5 years old.

turn the drum with your hand,if it feels hard to move you could have something stuck in the blower wheel that is below the lint filter and behind the duct that the filter slides into or the belt could be jammed,if it moves try starting it it might start you could have a flat spot on the motor and most likely you'll need to replace it,if it'shumming it's the motor making the sound

Dryer has started to make a loud sqealing when it starts and gets up to speed, the kind of sound a loose fan belt makes on a car, and now just makes a buzzing sound when the button is pushed but dosen't...

If you push the start button and you here a buzzing sound, This sounds like the motor is bad.

Somthing you can try and this might not work. but open the dryer door and turn the drum a littel bit then close the door and try to start it. If it starts running again then you have hit a bad spot on the motor.

If it just still just makes the buzzing noise then the motor is most likley bad.

My frigidaire dryer model NMER336FSO just out of the blue quit working. When I hit the start button i can hear a loan buzz, but it wont turn on.

It sounds like your Frigidaire may have one or more problems. If your push to start switch is defective then it will have to be replaced. You can test the switch itself by FIRST disconnecting power. Then taking the switch out and setting a voltmeter to test for continuity, then pushing the start button to see if there is on and off contact being made. Part number for the start switch is 131469000. If this is okay and you are hearing a buzz or low grumble noise coming from the motor area. this could indicate a bad motor winding and would probably have to be replaced. part number for the motor is 131560100. Sometimes however the motor can become seized or dirty connections to the motor can occur due to debris or dust bunnies. so make sure the dryer is CLEAN. If you give the drum a turn yourself manually, while trying to start the dryer this can sometimes give the motor the kick it needs. however this is only a quick fix, and not permanent. You have a well built simple dryer, and there isn't a whole lot that can go wrong with it. Hope this helps

Thnaks.

take top off. set it going and give the drum a push by hand. if it starts and keeps going then the fault is the motor capacitor - cheap part
