These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. If the Standby light is blinking at the front panel of the TV, it seems that there is an internal malfunction occurred in the TV. I will forward a link to a page where you can get more information and troubleshooting steps for this issue.
there is in-line fuse that blowes,caused by the fan vents being restricted (smoking can be a big facter) the vents should vacumed a couple times a month. you will need to have it seviced (parts and labor cost me 270$
I get 5 blinking red lights for about a minute or so before it powers back down. The Sony TV has a specific light that i presume is supposed to light up when the bulb is out. I'm unsure if this is what it is. no picture, no sound. tries to boot with green light blinking a few times. then goes to red blinking light, six in all, then waits a few moments, then another 6 blinking red light.
Bulb was already replaced several months ago but we do have the TV on for long periods of time.
