Cd player locked

I just installed a kenwood kdc-x680 head unit in my truck. i got it in and everything worked fine. i pressed and held the source button til the faceplate flipped over.i didnt have a manual or remote to flip it back over, so i pulled the fuse thinking it would reset itself. now when you turn the truck on it flips over then flips down like it is ejecting a cd, but has no display and none of the buttons seem to do anything. is it locked or am i missing something? if it is locked, how do i unlock it?

    ITS FUCKED UP

My problem is similar. With key on I can pull and replace fuse and it wil flip open and light up for a second. If I turn key off right away it will close. If I leave key on it will flip like a cd is ejecting and stay there after a minute. I cannot leave it half way open because my shifter will hit it, so i removed the fuse after I got it to close. Thanks Ken@ [email protected]

It has a defective ribbon cable between the face and the motherboard. This is a common repair, but must be done by a repair shop. My shop charges around $60-70 for parts and labor for that repair, to give you a ballpark of what to expect.

KDC-215S battery drain

You could add a switch to control the power going to the head unit. I have seen this done in many different vehicles where the head unit drains the battery, even when supposedly off.

I can't play my iphone on my kenwood KDC-MP435U

Jennifer, I have the same issue. the problem is that the 2007+ generations of Kenwood receivers are not compatible with the iPhone. You will need to get a 2009+ series in order to use your iPhone with the head unit. I had the same issue with the Kenwood KDC-MP435U in my mustang. I am going to get a newer head unit that supports the iPhone. You cannot do it with the MP435U.

I need the security code for my Kenwook KDC-MP435U cd player. I bought the car and it has been locked since i got it. I need music to drive!!

Press and hold the reset button (very small concave button to the right and below the main knob) You will have to set up everything on the unit because this will wipe the settings. It will also set the unit to the default of not using the security code. I recommend setting a code so if it locks accidentally, you know what the code is. There is no factory default for this on Kenwoods...it is user programmable.

No Sirius or Sat option when pressing Source button

Once everything is connected including antennae, there must be period of time for the head unit to recognize the SAT tuner (SC-C1 in this case). When I started up the car the next day the head unit automatically tuned itself to the Sirius preview channel.

Security code Lockout

I had a similar issue with a head unit in a newer Volkswagen. There was an unlock code burried in the vehicle's owners's manual.

Since your stero is an aftermarket model, I would bet the unlock code is in the manual for the head unit.

Kenwood head unit CD and AUX sound not working

I fixed the sound problem with tech support from Kenwood. I had the blue wire from the Kenwood which is the antennae turn on wired to the amp turn on for the vehicle (2001 Blazer with Bose factory stereo). This is how I was told to wire it from the installation tech where I purchased the wiring harness. The tuning played fine because the Bose amp turned on when I played the tuner but when I played the cd or aux the amp turned off, thus no sound. The kenwood tech toldd me to wire the blue/white wire to the amp turn on for the vehicle so the amp would be on when ever power to the Kenwood was on. I rewired this way and everything works great now.

Kenwood kdc-mp528 amp/speaker problem???

This is a common mistake. This problem indicates that you are using the solid blue wire from the head unit to the remote turn-on on the amp. This is a power antenna wire that only receives power when on FM radio. You need to replace this with the Blue & White wire from the head unit (power control wire) to your remote turn-on on your amp. This should solve your issue.

Brand New Unit Will Not Accept ANY Type of CD

I am having the same problem but only with a KDC-MP335 unit. I installed it in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee to the stock system, pretty easy install just matching colors for wires and everything works (Radio). but not one CD plays. it says reading and it acts as if it is playing the tracks but no sound... what is going on? did I mess up wiring it or something?
