Bummers. Sounds like the clutch is out. (If you can hear the motor spinning but not the drum, I'd say that's it. Especially if the machine has a number of years on it.)
I once looked into having a service man come fix a clutch. He said it would be cheaper to buy and new washing machine and have the old one hauled away.
Good luck.
SOURCE: bosch exxcel 1400s express is the drum stainless
It is simple to tell what the drum is made of: if it is silvery metal-like finish, then it is stainless steel. It cannot be aluminum because the aluminum would not withstand the abrasive and detergent chemical action . It would also not be chrome or chrome finish.
If it is normal steel, it must be porcelain coated since porcelain can take the abuse necessary and also protect the steel from eroding. Porcelain will (of course) be white or grey paint-like finish. It could be a poly/pvc/plastic drum but this hopefully would be obvious and of course would also be white.
Many model come as an option of porcelain steel or stainless steel and the model number is the same except for one digit. I will assume your 's' digit stands for stainless, in either case, the silver metallic finish is the determining clue. Macgivor
