I had my hard drive crash and I replaced my PC. I am running 64bit XP Pro with HD Writer AE 3.0. When I loaded the HD Writer on my new system and downloaded my videos from backup, the HD Writer will not open the videos. I get the error message that the picture is not supported and the movie might be corrupted. I probably have over 20 saved videos and receive the same error message on each.

SOURCE: HD Writer AE 1.0 won't import my videos to laptop

Hi There, few things to follow:
1. Install an update from Panasonic website at www.panasonic.net (This is a pack of 4 files you need to download 1 by 1) 2. Plug your camcorder to the back usb and not in the front port. 3. Disable your Resident Shield on your anti-virus.
Done!

If you have the CD with HD Writer AE, justfollow the steps below:
1. Go to the Administrator account and download the update software from: http://cnc.asp.hi-ho.ne.jp/cnc/global_cs/software/win7/Setup.exe

2. Insert the CD-ROM with the HD Writer AE1.0.

3. Double click the Setup.exe you just downloaded, and follow the procedure.

My desktop crashed. I lost everything on it. I thought I downloaded some informatin on my Seagate Externa harddrive, however, I am having problems connecting to other computers to see if any information is...

External hard drives are plug and play, the drivers are build into windows.
IF the hard drive was connected when your computed crashed, and the hard drive was in use, it may have damaged it.
If it does not automatically connect to other PC's looks like it has been damaged

I can not download form HDC-SD20 use by HD writer

I have same problem. I have Panasonic HDC-TM20 video camera. It came with HDWriter ae 1.0 software. I have ACER alptop, running XP. Everything was running fine for months, but now I cannot transfer from the video camera to the hard disk on my computer. It attempts to do it, but then it just does nothing for ages. CPU usage shoots up high. When I kill the application, it does die, but process continues so I need to re-boot mt laptop before I can load it again. Is these any one out there who has resolved this issue?

Replaced IDE DVD writer with a SATA DVD writer. Powered up XP Pro system, but no drive letter shows up. There is power to the DVD drive, but the OS does not see it. No BIOS updates available from EPoX.

Check your bios settings. If you already have two SATA hard disk drives in your system the bios should also list your SATA DVD writer as third in the list. Make sure the bios list the DVD writer. Remember all SATA drives including SATA DVD drives are all seen as Masters. Check your Boot order settings as well. If windows sill does not list a drive letter for your SATA DVD click, Start/Run and type: diskmgmt.msc in the run window. Assign a drive letter to the drive manually.

Cheers!

Problems using HD Writer 2.5E with Vista

I spoke to a technician at Panasonic. He said the problem is the 64bit Vista. It may run with the 32bit version, if gives trouble there is a patch update under Global Support/consumerproducts (digital AV window updates) at Panasonic web page. It will work with new Windows 7.

I have a gateway lb3 500 ancient 98se i tried to load xp pro and it crashed i cant seem to even get a 98 startup disk to work to recover it . how can i recover it to load the xp pro onit

Try running linux on it. Linux will run much better on older hardware. Depending an the specs of the system, it may not be able to handle running windows. Try ubuntu (www.ubuntu.com). If it used to run Windows XP or 98 and it wont now, try checking the hard drive. It may be corrupt. You can find hard drive check tools all across the web, google for drive fitness test by hitachi, it works great. Burn to a disk and boot to it on the older machine and do a full advanced test on the drive.

Hard drive heads crash upon shutdown

Dear delfixya

Hard Drives have one running speed once they are fired up, unlike a car engine which can idle down when not driving. They don't spin down until the power is shut off, and that is after all data is safe and RAM is not shadowing data from the HD.

Hard drives making clicking sounds after shutting down is an imminent sign of impending failure of the heads. Replacement is the best thing.
