Think of your marine batteries like a flashlight where the battery's stack on top of each other. With 3 battery's you will end up with a + positive and at the other end a -negative. Attach your + end of the charger to the the +positive end of your battery's and the -negative of the charger to the -negative of your battery's.

First of all do you have 3 or 4 batteries your cranking battery is not to be wired into this 36 volt if you have 4 batteries you have 3 for trolling motor and 1 cranking battery look on your charger see if the banks or numbered 1 2 3 4 .... you got to find what battery is # 1 depends on how they hooked in series if you hook charger on wrong battery most the time a red light comes on telling you wrong battery move wires till green lights come on all batteries.# 4 goes to cranking battery if you only have 3 batteries you don't have 36 volts you have 24 volts and a cranking battery if so # 3 goes to cranking battery

SOURCE: how do i hook up the 3 12 volt batteries for 36

Not sure why you need 36V but here's how.

<--P---N----P----N----P----N------>
Bat 1 Bat 2 Bat 3

You basically string them together. If you put a voltmeter on each end of the group you should have 36 volts or near it depending on the charge of the batteries.

Tandem batteries... is a fairly loose term to be dealing with on batteries... SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE EXPLOSIVE.

What voltage should come out of a 24 v 3 pin charger? single 12 v pin with two ground pins?

It depends on how it and the wheelchair are wired and how the voltage is derived.

Presumably the 24 volt wheelchair requirement is provided by two 12 volt batteries connected in series and these could be recharged in series by a 24 volt charger and a pair of wires or by a 12 volt charger providing a 12 - 0 - 12 using three wires where one 12 is a positive in relation to the 0 and the other is a negative in relation to the zero making a potential difference of 24 volts.

There could conceivably be circuitry within the wheelchair that requires only 12 volts for recharging and causes the two batteries to be charged separately, though while this method could be desirable and offer some benefits it would be considered unnecessarily expensive and complicated for most commercial purposes.

As usual you really need to know what is supposed to happen or is designed to happen before fault-finding can begin. One of the wires could be a safety ground wire but most likely it is used to provide some sort of feedback to the charger from, perhaps, a thermal switch close to the batteries so charging will cease if too much heat is generated.

How do I connect three 12-volt batteries to get 36 volts?

Lets number the batteries to simplify... B1-B2 andB3. Connect a cable from B1,negative, to B2 positive. B2 negative to B3 positive. Now you will have 36 volts by using B1 Positive and B3 negative. Also you can get the same voltage using 6 six volt batteries, the result will be a longer lasting charge, aka, drive further. Hope this helped.

How can I hook two 12 volt batteries together to produce 24 volt output. I have replaced the two older batteries but have not been able to get the two new batteries to produce the necessary 24volts

Hooking up 2 batteries (IN SERIES) will give you 24 volts. First make sure the 2 batteries are exactly the same. Do not use mismatched batteries. Hook the POSITIVE of first battery to the NEGATIVE of the second battery. Then hook your LEADS ( hot and ground) to the 2 remaining posts. That will give you 24 volts. When charging the batteries with a charger, hook the charger up to the LEAD POSTS.

I WANT TO CONVERT MY SCOOTER FROM 36 VOLT TO 12 VOLT HOW CAN i CHANGE MY 36 V. CHARGER TP 12 VOLT

This will need a motor change as well which is a pity and pressume that you have looked into that already.
Simply if you already have 3 12volt batteries you can charge in series and use just one in scooter or you can purchase a ordinary car 12volt charger for a cheap price an there are advanced units that give good deep charge automatically

How do you charge the 12 volt battery with a 6 volt charger

  • A 6 Volt charger will charge a 12 Volt battery, it will just take twice the time to get the 12 Volt battery to full charge as a 12 Volt charger would take. V*I=W. It will take up to 36 hours to get a full charge from near dead but it will work just fine.

Want to connect electric lights to ez-go electric golf cart. It is a six battery system and I want to simply add a front light and rear red light.

You said you have 6 batteries. Are they 6 volt or 8 volt? Hint-- 6 volt has three holes in the top and an 8 volt has 4 holes on top of the battery. Battery manufacturers recommend the use of a voltage reducer wired to the whole bank. This take the 36 or 48 volts down to 12 volts and is regulated. this is recommended so as not to stress just 2 batteries. If you have 6 volt batteries, you can use any 2 that are wired in series.
