You say the floor tool keeps shutting off. The key question is: what do you have to do to get it going again? There are electrical connections at both ends of the hose, and poor contact there can cause the tool to work intermittently - in which case you will find that just moving the hose will cause the tool to switch on and off. You can't do much about these connections other than have a look to see if they appear damaged. Make sure the hose is fully attached at both ends. If this doesn't help, please post again giving more details.
The Dyson Dc21 controls the motorhead by a microprocessor that interrupts the ground circuit.
The the device is over engineered in an attempt to make it “damn fool” proof. For example a microswitch in the motorhead cradle asm shuts power off to the motorhead when placed in the cradle. What fool would attempt to mount the motorhead in the cradle while it’s running?
I have fixed my motorhead stopping problem by cutting the brown wire at the microprocessor connector and splicing it directly to the white ground wire. Here is a youtube link with a great tutorial in accessing the main switch and associated wiring: https://youtu.be/6WG3RfMaiEY

Power head shuts off while in use...how do you fix a power connection? Or is it a filter issue?
