fabi, if Im reading you right the machine fills with water and just sits there. Can you hear the motor running when it should be agitating? If so you might have a broken coupler. If the machine is quiet and just sits there, it could be the pressure switch. The first picture shows the pressure switch with the rubber hose and purple wire going to it (far left). There is no model number posted but this is a top loading Kenmore, should be close. Take the rubber tubing off the switch and blow into the switch with another piece of tubing. Does it start agitating? If so, there's your problem. If you do hear the motor running and it's not agitating it may be the motor coupler. If you need more assist...email me at [email protected] Catriver..post back.

As I have not received a response, I'm assuming these hints have taken care of your problem. If you have any more troubles, feel free to drop me a note back.

If your basket appears to be off-center in the opening, and there is evidence of the basket rubbing the front of the plastic tub, then you should check out my post at:

If this is what happened to your washer, the 'burning smell' you refered to was the plastic tub getting hot from the rubbing of the basket (mine smelled the same way, I originally thought there was an electrical failure).

Make sure all springs are still in their place tilt the machine back and look under it and you can see them. 2nd all legs must be level as well as the floor.
