SOURCE: sony ps-lx2 turntable clicks when spinning

It seems something may have come loose over time or history, but you will have to delve inside to see what it is. It sounds as though the fault should be obvious.

If you do not want to do this, a repair shop should have no problem. I assume that the deck is working ok otherwise.

Panasonic SL-HM42 turntable runs a bit too slow on 33rpm. Hasn't been played in a while. How do I the plate off to check the belt?

Most turntables need you to lift of the matt and then round the spindle is a horseshoe clip which you need to take off.

Istall part 988511772

Assuming that this is a replacement part then Sony don't tend to supply fitting instructions with these as they are meant to be fitted by Sony authorised service people. If it is some kind of special part that can be fitted by members of the public then you can contact Sony for advice. Otherwise you might be best to take it to a Sony authorised service centre and pay to have it fitted. That way you can be certain it will work correctly.

My Crosley turntable is spinning too fast at 33RPM

Mismatch speeds on older turntables is normally due to either 1) a kink in the speed switch mechanism or 2) a hardening and slipping of the rubber drive wheel.
A very small motor with a chamfered shaft drives the rubber drive wheel, and the wheel is moved by the speed control up and down the drive shaft to produce various rpm speeds.
In your case, it's likely turning at 45rpm because it isn't settling onto the 33rpm part of the shaft.
Piddle with the speed control, then count the speed (number of turns in a minute) You'll figure it out!

GOING FROM 45 TO 33

I don't know if this model is direct driven or by belt. If it's belt driven then the belt could be fitted incorrectly, or faulty. Another possibilty is that there's a fault in the motor control circuit.

Is there an adjustment knob? if so use that! if not it will have to be adjusted from under the turntable!

Turntable 45rpm speed has stopped working

Check that the lever is actually making the contact with the 45 rpm switch position and completing the circuit as it would seem everything else works. The only other thing it could be is a break on the pcb, but that is unlikely.

Sony PS-LX250H speed problem

I have a different Sony model (PS-LX-150H) that had a similar problem. I hadn't used it in awhile, and then when I did, I noticed the speed problem.

IF your PS-LX250 is like my PS-LX150, there are small speed adjustment screws accessible from the bottom of the unit. On mine, the two adjustment screws were labeled - one for 33rpm, the other for 45 rpm. Basically I just fiddled a bit with them using a very small precision screw driver until I could verify that I had reached 33 rpm (I used a stopwatch and literally counted the number of rotations/minute after making adjustments.)

Now it sounds right!
