Hello,
Open the Lens barrier to turn the camera ON and by closing the Lens barrier, you will turn it OFF.

Please let me know if that helps..

Thanks and Regards,

Assuming that the camera worked earlier and it did not fall from a height...

Make sure that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.. There is a mark on the bottom of the camera showing the correct way to insert batteries. To maximize battery life, this digital camera features a power saving mode in which the camera enters a sleep mode after approximately three (3) minutes of non-use. Press the shutter button to wake up the camera.

Try removing the Memory card if any inserted.

And if the monitor does not come on even after that then the last thing we can try to make sure that the problem is not with the battery power supply is to try connecting external power supply (Camera has an option for connecting DC 3.4V Jack).

And if still the monitor does not come on then consider giving the camera to service center for repair.

    Regards,
    Srinivas

I have an olympus camedia D-390 and was told at Best Buy that they dont make the memory card I need anymore. So what memory card can I buy for my camera?

They are correct...Olympus no longer makes the xd picture card. You might be able to find one at amazon.com This is a 7 year old camera and only 2megapixels. If I were you, I would step up to a modern camera that uses SD/SDHC cards. You will be amazed at the results you will get.

When I turn on my Olympus Camedia D-390 it flashes an orange warning sign and says "Write Protect". This somehow came up after no problems shooting my first 100 or so photos and uploading-downloading to my...

You need to look at the media card onto which you are taking the photos. Possibly when you reinserted that card into the camera, you accidentaly moved the copy protection switch into the read only position.

These things are so very small that they are hard to see, or even feel, and equally difficult to know when you have moved it.

Remove the card and check the edges for this switch, to ensure that it has not been moved into read only. Then move it back to allow writing to the card.

I normally use a small 32mb memory card in the olympus D-390 but used an olympus fe-130 over the holidays with a 256mb memory card. I do not have the usb cord for the fe-130 so I put the 256mb card in the...

Many cameras will not read cards written on other, different cameras. There should be no problem taking the card to a store and having the pics printed or put on a disc. Or get a cord for the 390, or a card reader for your computer.

Camera reset

The D-390 allows you to choose if you want the camera to retain your settings or to default the settings. In the camera menu, there is a function called “All Reset”. If the selection is ON, the camera will default all settings each time the camera is powered on/off. If the selection is set to OFF, the camera will remember all of the settings that have been made.
