DC35 has been around for a long time and hasn’t been sold for years. If the charger light isn’t coming on then there is a fault with the charger cable. If you contact Dyson they will ship you a replacement free of charge under your 2 year warranty.

      SOURCE: dyson 18 losing suction

Check the HEPA filter if it has one. This bit of foam gets clogged over time and significantly reduces the suction especially if you've been vacuuming a lot of very dusty areas i.e. dust from building work etc. Just wash the filter with lots of water and leave to dry before reinserting.

      SOURCE: Not holding charge

Ok, folks.. I just posted my own problem with the battery not holding it's charge..but, we fixed it ourselves.. take the motor loose from the canister , remove the filter and in the back are two contacts.they are two screws at the bottom one on each side... get out your pencil with a GOOD eraser and clean those contacts!..clean around them both and the contact (silver spot at the bottom) and you're good to go!!

SOURCE: my dyson handheld charges fully,

Your battery is losing voltage too quick. It has probably developed a 'memory'. Dyson claims that their handheld has the best suction out of all the handhelds out there. In order to maintain that claim the circuit board will shut off power to the motor when the voltage drops below adequate charge for full suction.
We need someone who can teach us to bypass that part of the circuit so it won't cut power to the motor or you need to replace the battery.
Shorting the battery like an Aircraft battery then re-charging won't fix it.

My Dyson DC35 just stopped .

Question edited for clarity and typos. Please don't call a Dyson a 'Hoover' (registered name of Hoover Inc), James Dyson will be very upset. :>D

Yes you can buy batteries very easily, but you need ascertain that it is the battery, or the charger, or the control board? With a digital multimeter it is very easy to check battery and charger, but you will need Dyson service to diagnose a board issue.

Hi I have a Dyson handheld vacuum DC35 , when I plug the rechargeable battery in to charge the green light is just flashing and does not seem to hold charge

This means your battery is flat. When charging the battery if the green light on the charger is on then charge is getting to the battery. If the battery isn't holding a charge then you will need to replace the battery.

When I press the trigger the green light comes on but motor does not

Hi Peter, it's Jack at Dyson.

From what you're describing, it does sound as if your DC35 needs to be recharged. When the machine is charging, the LED on the charger will illuminate, but the LED on the machine itself will not. When the LED on the charger goes out, the machine is fully charged - this will take 3.5 hours from depleted.

Please try connecting your DC35 to the charger cord and allowing it at least 3.5 hours to charge until the LED on the charger goes out, then test your machine. If it's still not running at this point, we will need to talk you through some simple diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. This will help determine whether there's an issue with the main body, battery or the charger itself.

You can reach our experts by calling the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How do you know when the battery is charge

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your machine's charge has been completely depleted, it will take a maximum of 3.5 hours to recharge again completely. When it's fully charged, the light on the charger will go out. You can either plug the charger cord directly into the machine, or store and recharge the machine in its docking station.

I just bought a Dyson DC35 cordless vacuum cleaner, and the charger does not light up, nor does it seem to be charging the vacuum cleaner

Hi Jeff, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC35 should charge completely within 3.5 hours, and when fully charged the light on the charger will go out. If the battery doesn't seem to be taking in any power, we'd appreciate the opportunity to take you through some quick diagnostic checks when you have your machine to hand. If a replacement part is needed, our experts will also be happy to confirm if this is covered under your machine's 2-year warranty.
