Most pedometers need to be several inches from your center body or directly in line with your knee to accurately record the number of steps you take each day. The pedometers work by using a pendulum which moves the counter as you move forward or backward. Use the provided clip attachment to secure the pedometer to your waistband or belt. Walk for about 20 steps, stop and check the pedometer for accuracy. Adjust it closer or farther to your naval until the counter is accurate. If you have a large abdomen, secure the pedometer to the back of your waistband and recount your steps.

I have recently bought an Omron HJ-109 pedometer which has given very erratic results, considering that I walk the same distance every day. Today I stopped for a quick chat to a friend and the pedometer...

To be honest with you, the cheap ones are the best. As a nurse, they are the ones that are used in hospital and rehab centers, they are cheap, and they work, and can be tossed or just simply given to the client at discharge. BUT, as you already have the unit, I would make sure that you attach it to the same belt, hoop, whatever you are attaching it too, keep it the same way every time. yes I also know that we do not like to wear the same workout clothes or outfit every time, but it really does matter, go figure! Take care.... Guy

Where actually is the best place to put the pedometer . How near the hip. Please send diagram of position.

Hi,

Literally, on the belt... If you imagine your waist as a clock with 12 to the front then the best position for the pedometer is anywhere between 9 and 11 or 1 and 3.
It will work if you have it on the back but best result is from side to front as the shock from your foot hitting the ground travels up the front of the leg more strongly.

Reebok B 2 pedometer

1. Reset pedometer by pressing the reset button.
2. Find a long open place and take 20 steps with the pedometer
closed.
3. Check the number of steps the pedometer counted. It should be
between 19 and 21 steps.
4. If the count was not right, try to move the pedometer forward
(toward your belly button) or back (toward your hip) on your
waist.
5. Repeat this until you get the best count of your steps.
6. Once found, place your pedometer in this spot each day.

I am having problems with my Pedometer. What should I do?

Review the following questions for common pedometer troubleshooting: a) Where are you wearing the pedometer? Make sure you are wearing your pedometer correctly by following these steps: * Clip your pedometer to your waistband or belt, directly above your knee. * Be sure your pedometer is perpendicular to the ground, not angled or dangling from your clothing. * Do not wear the pedometer on your shoe, sock, pocket or wrist. It will not provide an accurate reading. * Test the pedometer for accuracy by setting the step counter to zero and walking 50 steps. Check the display. If the reading is between 45-55, your step counter is functioning properly. If it reads more or less, reposition the counter on your waist and check again. * Your pedometer may give inaccurate results if you have had recent surgery or knee, leg, or foot problems. You may be favoring a leg or foot while walking. b)My pedometer has a clicking or loose part sound? Is it broken? No, a clicking or loose part sound is not an indicator of a broken pedometer. Every pedometer has an arm or pendulum inside of it. This is what counts the steps. The clicking noise that can be heard when the pedometer is shaken (or when you are walking) is the pendulum. c)The reset button will not work. The pendulum inside the pedometer is linked to the step counting device. The pendulum may become immobile from time to time, and this can prevent the reset button on the step counter from doing its job. If pressing the reset button a few times does not clear the display, here is what you can do to release the pendulum: * Give the pedometer a few gentle shakes while keeping the reset button held down. This un-sticks the pendulum. * Release the button. If the display has not cleared, press and release the button one more time. * If the display does not reset after trying this once or twice, call Customer Service.

When do I wear my pedometer?

Wear your pedometer all day. Attach it to your belt or waistband (in line with your kneecap) and wear it from the moment you get dressed in the morning until you go to bed. This will ensure that you are accurately tracking your activity for the entire day. Remember that your pedometer cannot get wet, so take it off when showering or swimming.
