SOURCE: Battery
As you have probably already figured out it sounds like the battery is damaged. Due to the potential fire hazard I would immediately remove the battery even if the laptop is off and discontinue its use until you are certain it is working correctly. Laptop batteries are not safely repairable by users and most technicians. Other than inspecting for bent pins there isn?t much you can do. If the battery is less than a year old you can call Dell, tell them it doesn?t work and see if you can convince them to warranty replace it. Batteries should not become unusable by a normal 3-4 foot drop. If it?s out of warranty I strongly suggest you try to borrow an identical battery to see if it behaves normally, or if that isn?t an option purchase another. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.

Grrrr, why do soooo many people who have no idea keep leaving messages of help !!!!!
The DELL 2200 does NOT have that option in the BIOS, to deactivate warnings. These responses should be kept to themselves if you don't actually have the same model of laptop in front of you, or aint working with them.
The 2200 has a rubbish bios, so it will happily insist on recalibrating till you've ran out of electric, but unfortunately only changing the battery, seems the simple way to stop it. DELL seem to excel at this kind of nonsense, the 6400 range (and a few others) even complain if they think you're using a non-standard charger!!
Seems DELL are so kind and protective to their customers that they become the wrong side of obsequious lol
I'm gonna try taking the CMOS battery out next, and see if that makes a difference on these things. . . . . . ..

Try taking the battery out and putting it back in. If that doesn't help, take it and have it tested.. It may be time to replace it...
